Wish I saw this sooner took me years of hearing fish explode all night around me and coming home puzzled.One night guy beside me slow crawled Excalibur bomber long a and caught 4 hybrids in a row taught me to slow presentation where lure barely wobbled, n that changed everything! God bless your patience n thanks for the share!!!!

Very cool! Aways nice to see local fishing videos. I haven't been out at night in a few years but I have to agree with your techniques. They work!

Yep, fun way to fish too!

Very good explanation. Been watching your Vids for a while - Great job. I primarily fish the Del river and IBSP Spring & Fall. It's amazing how key presentation is. I used to fish the Nock when it was first built. Living 30 mins south, I want to get back to it. Thanks !

great video, i know it’s an old one but ive been using your advice at nock and it’s paid off. been night fishing it lately, was wondering if you think a whopper plopper could work for the stripers out there?
@fishden3653 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. The whopper plopper would not be my first choice for them but that said I know they are catching stripers in spring on the small sized ones at Lake Wallenpaupack.

Have you seen anything like the Norman Top Dollar in terms of action? Was wondering if you’ve tried the 6th Sense Splashback
@fishden3655 ай бұрын
I don't have the 6th Sense Splashback but now I have an opportunity for another video. Interesting shape on that bait. I don't think I have seen a bait with the same action as the top dollar. The old Berkley Frenzy popper may have come close.
@ryanlopez93735 ай бұрын
You hype the top dollar so much, but I just can’t bring myself to buy one on eBay for $80🤦♂️. I’m very curious to try it out west however. Have you made a mold of the top dollar or know anyone that has recreated one out of wood?
@fishden3655 ай бұрын
I have a few friends that are working on wooden models. Using a mold is certainly doable.

Wanted to get your opinion. Blue Marsh Lake is hovering around 70 degrees is it a good time to go up for topwater stripers at night or is the Bait fish spawn over
@fishden365 Жыл бұрын
The baitfish spawn is on and will remain for the next few weeks. Good time to fish at night there. You just might need to take you time reviving larger stripers, assuming you catch and release.

Seems a lot like salt water striper fishing, but in a lake mere minutes from me. I use that same Cotton Cordell Redfin I've had for over 30 years in blue. I cant tell you how many stripers I caught in the Raritan Bay with it. It's a great wake bait. The Luckycraft Sammy is also a great surface jerkbait. Caught quite a few on them, too. I don't understand why so many anglers in the bay prefer deep diving lures, weighted jigs, or spoons, and why so many of them drill out the redfin, and fill it with 10 ccs of water to make it sink. Those guys will never know the awesome feeling of when a huge 40 lb striper smacks the top, and splashes and thrashes the way they do when the hit it. I actually caught my first striper on an Arbogast musky Jitterbug in the bay near South Amboy, NJ. Nobody that day caught anything besides a bunch of small bluefish in the 18 to 22 inch range, and they were all fishing deep divers, spoons, jigs, clams and bunker. All I used was my jitterbug.

I agree, they are missing out on the most fun bite of all, topwater!

Do the stripers get big in Lake Wallenpaupack? I never caught any there, and I've fished it for many years, as it's only 20 mins from my home. I've often wondered how successful stocking saltwater fish that spawn in freshwater is in lakes of the cold northeast, and whether it produces sizable, trophy striped bass. I've heard a great deal of success in warmer, southern lakes, rivers, and deep reservoirs. Do the get 40 plus pounds?
@fishden3655 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, I doubt that they spawn successfully in this part of the country...but as long as they get stocked they can grow quite large. Beltzville has given up fish over 40 pounds. Not sure about the Pack but there are many fish in the 20 - 30 pound class there.

Dude..you are talking right up my alley. Would love to pick your brain. We have the same alewife bite in Tennessee. Dude try pencil poppers. I use a lure called a bomber x-pop. If you have any to sell let me know.

I use a light to fish i keep it pointing away from the water. I generally have it to retie lures. I fished the bridge during the day and at night no luck. Ive fished the bridge several times. I moved after like 3 to 4 casts. It supprised me because the bridge covors whole width of the river. I covored the width of the river on the bridge no striper. After work tonight im trying a new spot im not fishing the bridge. The bridge area braught me no fish 🤷🤷🤷🤷🤦🤦🤦. The funny thing to the right of the bridge theres structure like logs and dead trees overhanging into the river. Tonight after work trying a new spot.

Great video!!! ? For you.. do u ever use spin casting reels to throw top water lures... wit is your set up for throwing top water lures for striper bass? Like what rod and reel and size line do you use? Do you tie directly to your lure or do you use those quick lure changing clips?.. just trying to get some info and some things you like to use to catch these lake striper bass.. I use fresh live bait and been wanting to throw lure.. so keep these vids coming.. very useful and helpful..😃👍

Hello, thanks for watching. I use a bait cast outfit. I use 3 reels from most expensive to least: Shimano Curado, Pflueger President, and Bass Pro Shops Carbon Lite 2.0. The rod is mostly a Diawa light and Tough topwater action rod, sometimes others. I used spider wire stealth braid line with a 7 foot monofilament leader. 20 pound test on the braid, 17 on the mono. Hope this helps...

Great video. Where do u fish? (On the lake)
@fishden3655 жыл бұрын
depends on species I am fishing for. For stripers, I usually stick from mid lake to the dam. Checking the main lake points, secondary points, mostly.

That guy was catching on Zara Spook at night?

Yes, with a steady walk the dog cadence. It could have been a Spook Jr. I have since caught them the same way with the Strike King Sexy Dawg and the Reaction Innovations Vixen

Is there a good population of stripers in lake Nockamixion?
@fishden3653 жыл бұрын
There is a decent population in Nockamixon and they grow large there very fast because of the vast amount of alewife and gizzard shad that lives there.

Do you notice that the sound of the lure is more critical than anything?
@fishden3653 жыл бұрын
Hi John, for me its the cadence of the bait which does relate to the sound it makes. I have found that cadence is very important to getting bites on all lures...even when using jigs for bass.
