Fishing with a £5 Swimbait from AliExpress! will it work?!

This is a video i've wanted to make for a while but never got round to it. I bought this lure from aliexpress a few years ago just to see if it would work for such a cheap price and was really surprised to be fair! Filmed in about 2 hours in a quick after work session on a stretch of water i've never fished before!

Bought some of this lures longer time ago and was surprised actually how good they are cached a lot pikes on them quite sturdy too for a cheap lure like that

I too buy from Ali Express but use it to fill gaps in my collection. It might be a type of lure or colour that i can't obtain . Still good to buy from Uk where poss as at present really need to.

You want to swim it back sub surface. If you have one miss twitch, pause and continue retrieving. Do not set hook just hold medium pressure when they hit

Cheap or expensive if wriggles it will catch , prime example the Shakespeare big s. Cheap catches pike of all sizes

Wells catfish is craaazy about Big S.And Manns minus 1 ,can catch you chub/id of a lifetime in the evning.

Where abouts in the UK are you fishing bud? I tent to fish the Coventry and Oxford canal and have done ok there with small jacks. But not much big stuff coming out.

Im always sceptical of cheapo swim baits as ive had a few, ive used in the sea that literally retrieved like a house brick but having just got into pike fishing im half tempted to give these a go on the canal, they clearly work! Nice video mate!

My whole tackle box is 5 quid lol, never had any problems with cheap baits. To me this one would be premium.

Great video, would like to see you continuing to use different range of lures price wise. I enjoy all of your videos but have noticed that a lot of them use top end lures I couldn't justify paying £15 to £20 for a lure. I'd be traumatised if I lost one!!

I know your comment is 2 years old but, having just lost a £16 Svartzonker McHybrid on my first session at a lake, I'm now here looking to see the viability of AliExpress lures and I can tell you, it was painful losing something that cost this much with 2 hours. So at £5 each, weigh up the trade offs - are you likely to get it snagged, how long will the hooks or paint/varnish last, is it the best value? For me I see no real downsides in getting these! I wish there were more videos of people trialling them.

@TurboBunny76 I'm almost certain a fish can't tell the difference between a wish or ali express lure and a rapala or svartzonker. I recon most of them catch more fishermen than fish!! I much happier deadbaiting now. Much cheaper and more effective in my opinion. Its certainly caught me bigger fish more often.

Can happen with stuff from china from just the pure volume being shipped out, aliexpress is good at refunding items though, as the seller does not recive any money before you confirm that you have recived it

Good stuff great video,never knock aliexpress i have some really good hard lures from aliexpress had pike to 22LB on them,aliexpress plastic lures are absolutely fantastic quality and so cheap the secret is knowing the good shops on there i deal with 8 sellers on aliexpress and not once have they let me down i have been buying lures from aliexpress 6 years don't get me wrong i love all my savage gear and rapala and salmo lures but to be totally honest the prices are getting ridiculous in the tackle shops for branded lures savage gear lures are made in china anyway i have a fantastic quality collection of lures from aliexpress that cost next to nothing and catch me lots of fish as i said it's knowing the good shops on aliexpress i place an order on aliexpress i get my goods 10 to 14 days later can't knock it for service,quality,and especially the price,para

After years of not fishing, I saw that people were fishing with a reel and with jerkbaits, I bought a few expensive ones that I had lost all, in the tree etc, then I also bought cheaper bait at Ali Express and must honestly say that I caught quite a lot with that! Now I fish with more expensive bait but still with Ali Express bait where I still regularly catch beautiful pike, sometimes I change the hooks because they are a bit weak but it works! now also see that they are also making better material so every now and then I order something there.

problem with these you need to order 6 months in advance :d and you usually forget you bought a lure :d
