Near 6K views in just under 3 hours! Best fishing channel anywhere! And I appreciate your taking us along with you, Matt! This 83 yr old geezer prolly won't get in too many more bass fishing excursions, but I get my vicarious giggles riding along with you, and you'll never know just how much that means to me! You know, I'd love to see another retro-vid - using some of the old hardware I used to throw at them - Jitterbug, Chugger Spook (my favorite top-water), and maybe even a Flatfish. I caught my PB on a green scale Flatfish - just under 6 lbs on a pond in upstate NY, at noon on a bright sunny day! As a matter of fact, it was the National Holiday declared by Nixon at the first Apollo Moon Landing. Long time back!

Love your channel; you're honest and informative!! Funny story: I fished a lake in Eastern Ontario adjacent to Frontenac Provincial Park for a week, each of 20 years in a row. Great fishing up there due to the proximity of the Park, it was clean, quiet and hardly anyone fished; it was mostly campers, kayakers and canoes. One day out on a nice flat weed bed swarming with dragonflies, a canoe approached us and the mid-aged couple paddling it were tourists from England. They paddled right up to about 6 ft. away from us and the woman asked in the most regal sounding British accent, "... Oh hello, are there really any fish in this lake...?" About the exact second she said the word 'lake,' a beautiful 3-4lb large-mouth bass shot up 2 ft out of the water directly between us and snatched a dragonfly out of mid-air! He splashed water all over the Queen and scared the living s**t out of her! She almost tipped the canoe! It was hilarious! Soon as we all gained our composure, I said to her, in a poor imitation of her accent, "Yes indeed madam, as you can see, there are fish in this lake...!" My hand to god... ✋True story!

Matt, Great video, sir. One trick you may want to try is before you put the hook into the lure, take some dental floss, and a dab od gorilla brand superglue, and attach the floss to the hook just under the eyeloop, and wind about half to three quarters of an inch and dab glue to lock it to the shank of the hook. Then pit a bit of glue on top of the floss, then put the lure on it. This will help keep the lure from riding off the hook and it's shank. And save some reset aggravation. Hope this helps, sir.

Two things: 1) The cast at the 12:06 mark is epic. Right after the lure hits the water, you see waves where the bass is coming in for the strike. So cool. And 2) Does anybody else have a little panic attack when Matt makes a cast, then holds the rod with just one hand so he can use the other hand to paddle the kayak. I'm terrified a 6 pounder is going to blast that topwater and Matt will miss the hookset! That's called living vicariously through the KZbin fisherman 😂😂.

I kayak fish local ponds, lakes, and rivers a LOT, but there just aren't a lot of huge fish around my neck of the woods. Most days you'll be catching bass 12" and under. It's rare to get a 15" or longer fish. My biggest largemouth all year is 2.42lbs and my biggest smallmouth this year is 2.93lbs at 18". I did accidentally land an 11.08lb musky while bass fishing that was 7" or 8" longer than my 26" bump board!
