If I could only choose one all-around bait caster in today's market this would be it. Smooth, very long casting and if you do push it and get an overrun it's one of those easy to get out deals. The only downside I can find is that the drag could use some more bite, not an issue for most everyday fishing. This is my third JDM DC reeI, the Exsence DC and Antares DC MD are the others along with the US version Curado 150 and 200 DCs and an SLX DC which I gave to a buddy. Love the Antares DC MD and have used it mostly on my last three Amazon trips, very smooth and a bit larger and heavier though not quite as much as my 2016 regular Antares which is by far the most buttery smooth ever, surely because of that extra bulk. The Antares DC MD has plenty of drag and has little problem with psycho peacock bass over 20 pounds but is three times the current Japan order price of the Scorpion DC. For big fish/heavy lures the non-DC Scorpion 300 is a brute but you really feel the larger size and weight on a long day of casting. As you go up in price the increments of improvement in smoothness etc. become smaller - hard to go wrong with any one of the DC reels but for what you can pick this Scorpion up for now it's damn near perfect. One more thing to add as my first DC reel was the Curado 150 DC when it had just come out and I thought it was a dud. You have to throw it several times to get the DC feature to engage. Out of the box some more than others need a "break-in" period. This was evident on a Colombia trip last year with the Antares DC MD. After switching from a big woodchopper lure to a 3/4 ounce jerk bait the first throw was much shorter as expected but after a few more casts each one was considerably longer - the reel actually learns the weight of the lure.

I got one too. Same problem the drag is strong enough. I almost have to tighten the whole drag clicker to get some strength to it but other than that it’s a great reel.

i bought one of these..... then a week later i bought another one. They worth every penny. You get all the good hardware without all the extra cosmetic. Antares dc and Metanium dc are good too. If you want extra bearings and if u want lightest the Metanium is best. The Antares is too big for my hands. Edit: Oh also one of my jdm Scorpion Dc. I replaced all the bearings with ABEC 9 Ultra Ceramic bearings. I don't recommend

Im hearing drag issues, isnt there upgrade kits available?
@AtotheJsports-wildlife-fishing Жыл бұрын
There definitely is and I’ve looked into it but haven’t bought one. This video was my first experience with the reel so I remember the drag being way too loose. It just has to be tightened almost to the max

@@AtotheJsports-wildlife-fishingI'm thinking the drag click kit comes with everything as well. Carbon washer, might look to do that for fun. I just got mine and put a blacked out gomexus drag star and handle on it.

How do you like the Lews TP 1
@AtotheJsports-wildlife-fishing2 жыл бұрын
Definitely one of my favorite models from Lew’s I haven’t tried the new TP1Xs but if you can find any of the old TP1s I definitely recommend them
