Man, now I am itching to get out and do some catfishing soon. This warmer weather is creeping up ever so much! But the thing is, I don't have a proper catfishing rig setup. I plan on having two rods and reels, both spinning and spincast. Nothing too expensive. Want to stay on the cheap side. My Zebco 33 combo can only do so much. I've caught several catfish under 8 lbs, my biggest being 12 lbs. Using only 10 lb test makes it fun trying to reel in those bigger channel cats. But anyways, I plan on using the Zebco 888 reel along with a Ugly Stik Catfish rod, 8 ft in length 2 piece rod. And the other will be a Bass Pro Shops King Kat spinning combo. 10 ft rod, 2 piece. Just gonna compare the two and see which one performs better. Heck, might use both at the same time while I am fishing. I heard some decent reviews on the King Kat combo. Most of the cons come from the reel itself, being cheaply made and all. And the pre-spooled line it comes with is cheap, too. I think some 30 lb test (mono or braid) should do it. Any suggestions before I go this route?

I would absolutely LOVE to go fishing with the machine, reminds me of my dad, especially when he says " quit" lol, and the love and passion for fishing, my dad was the same way, as am I, only difference is, I only ever saw my dad fish for catfish, never anything else, but the Ohio River was or back yard.

I quit using the Eagle Claw hooks. All I use now is the Gamakatsu Octopus Circles,much better hook than the EC's. I also use the Santee Rig and sinker slider with bank sinkers,keeps the bait and hook up off the bottom.Doing that I catch a lot less turtles and the snags have dropped off by about 90%.

Thanks so much for these catfishing videos. They are by far my favorite although all your video are my favorite no matter the species. You have got me all pumped up to go as soon as this storm blows out the area. The wife and I caught well over 200 biiiiig nightcrawlers last night (she's a good woman way better than I deserve and if you could ever give her a shout out I think it would be so special to her but no pressure as we understand there's to much to see it all) and we going channel cat hunting soon.
