I'm sure you'll think of this eventually, if you haven't already, but using some of the different tips you've put out lately, you can run your Iceco with your tool batteries. You just need to have a clip to hook to the battery, a boost /buck converter to knock the voltage down to 12 volts and a 12 volt cig socket like the one you used here. They work great and are pretty efficient. One thing you need to be careful about is be sure you end up with 12 or 24 volts coming out to the Iceco. They run on either 12 volts or 24 volts, but not on voltages between 12 and 24, like you might think. The motor has 2 different windings and a controller built in to tell it which one to use based on what you have it plugged into. I've heard that just using a 18 volt or 20 volt tool battery, straight up, will damage the compressor, so don't do that. But if you do, film it so we can see the fireworks! LOL

I buy the one called Alpicool for thehalf price and works awesome, on my truck or in my Home.
@MrOldclunker22 күн бұрын
Yeti's were always over priced and hyped up for the yuppies. The ICECO needs to handle being out of service for most of the year and then used a few times a years as most people do a cooler. Most compressors do not like being off line and usually fail. A long term test would be great to see after a year or two.
@FishinNStuff22 күн бұрын
@MrOldclunker you are correct about that . But it's a nano compressor kind of like the kind RVs use . Do RV refrigerators last would be a better way to find out . The Coleman i tested is very old . It's not as efficient ( old technology) but it worked fine

I've had an Alpicool CX50LG clone (50 liters with LG compressor) running 24/7 for the last 4 years, holding -4F = -20C. Calling it or the Iceco a cooler is wrong, it's a compressor fridge/freezer. And yes, a fridge/freezer is better than a cooler full of melting ice that wrecks your food when it gets it wet.
@HomesickforAlaska22 күн бұрын
That ICECO cooler is pretty cool but for the price it should work that well. I have one of the Coleman Thermoelectric coolers that I bought in 1986 for about $60 that I just recently swapped the fans out for more efficient frictionless computer fans for about $20. I throw one or two frozen quart jugs in along with whatever food or drinks I want and I am usually good for at least a couple of days on the boat or in the truck. Plus my wife has used it plenty of times to keep food hot for picnics, holidays, church socials, etc. as it can both heat and cool. That ICECO cooler is great and it will get much colder than the Coleman, but unless you really really need an actual refrigerator/freezer its hard to beat the Coleman Thermoelectric coolers for price, longevity and ease of repair. I doubt that ICECO will still be operating in 40 years.😊

That ICECO DC battery, thats the ticket to extend the fridge/freezer. When you are fishing/hunting if you do not hookups on a pier, bridge, hunting blind, etc. Put the ICECO in beach wagon and go for drinks, sandwiches, etc. maybe a regular cooler for the fish.

Great for a remote or off grid camp . A few 100 watt solar panels and a charge controller to a 100 ah 12 volt battery would be more than adequate , and , could likely run a pair of them for a long time .

If you ask me that's cool, I never heard of those coolers before. Some of you might think, how could you not, im in a wheelchair and I had to stop leaving my house years ago because my health turned 180 degrees on me. I like that cooler tho and it has awesome possibilities for it during the hot summer months and for road trips and fishing and hunting trips too. Especially keeping your bait Frozen all the way to the water. That way when you go fishing the bait you have premade up, it's still a ice block. This type of catfish bait needs to stay frozen until you're ready to use it because once you cast it in that water, it's going to change the water temperature an those catfish will find it quickly. Just make sure when you set your hooks up with your bait on it that the tip of each hook is exposed. An during the day, the deeper the water the bigger the fish are. So fish deep and watch your fish finder to find the fish and depth of the water. Those devices are a fisherman's best toy on the boat.

Hey , Keith, that's a pretty slick setup. Just wondering if it probably wouldn't be better to turn that thing on and leave it on. Compressors don't do too well just setting. It’s really awesome but it’s not as versatile. There’s a lot of stuff I wouldn’t want to put in that cooler that I would in my igloo. Well, it’ll have to go on my wishlist. Something I’d love and use, but never buy for myself
@FishinNStuff21 күн бұрын
I agree I wouldn't throw fresh skipjack in it , at least without using a ziplok bag . But it has benefits too . Like in the hurricane September 🌀 everyone lost power even the stores , So no ice to find . That's more where my thoughts are i guess .

@ hurricane tip: Need ice? Try restaurants and bars sometimes even hotels. They all have fairly large ice machines that produce way more ice than they can typically use. It’s fairly easy to negotiate filling a cooler.

Take about a cup of rock salt and sprinkle your ice in your yeti and prepare to freeze everything inside in about 10 minutes. And it won't run your battery down😂.
