Ed Harris kills bugs throughout the movie, only to be shrunken to the size of a bug at the end, being defeated and humiliated like the pathetic little man that his character is. A brilliant twist of irony!

I love how Kristen Stewart's character lights up the cigarette Daisy gave her while she's trying to dispose of Daisy's body. Especially because Daisy said she should "save it for a special occasion". That was just the cherry on top and the perfect way to end the movie.
@tangeriniegenie7 ай бұрын
and on top of that, it looks like she took cigarettes from daisy’s body, too. and earlier in the movie, when she was trying to quit, she saw cigarettes on jj’s body and left them. symbolizing that she’s gone back to her old, reckless ways for love.

It's an interesting theory that Jackie was abused and that's why she got muscular to protect herself, it would also help explain why she was so angry about Dave Franco's character and made that personal even though she's new to those relationships.

I love this film. I love the fact that it takes me places to which I had no idea where it was going. the performances are all top shelf. Kristen Stewart keeps going from strength to strength. The film firmly embraces its queerness, which is a huge plus for me.

I was ready to experience this movie as soon as I saw the trailer with Katy looking beautiful and buff, Ed Harris with that mad dog skullet, and Bronski Beat's 'Smalltown Boy' playing in the background 🥰 I also really liked 'Saint Maud' so I had a feeling that Rose Glass wouldn't disappoint with this one. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on what looks like a violently happy work of lesbian art!

Love Lies Bleeding was the cure to the cinematically transmitted disease that was Drive Away Dolls. I loved it. Ed Harris was serving Fever Ray's latest mutation, Kristen Stewart was giving Christina Ricci when she played Aileen Wuornos gf in MONSTER, and Katy O'Brian turned me gay. As an off off off-season bodybuilder, the taller you are, the less impact (the less muscle) you appear to have. Therefore, the visual impact of THAT scene was drastically reduced by its own hubris. I also wish we got MORE of Jackie's backstory. A lover of St. Maud, I appreciate Rose Glass's use of body horror balanced with drama; meaty action and swift narrative balanced with passionate acting and creative, hallucinatory sequences. 9/10 for me.

I saw both, Rose Glass made a better Cohen Bros movie than Ethan did. Though i didn't think love lies bleed was very comedic. Its a shame, the leads in Drive Away Dolls did their best with the movie.

I finally saw LLB. I was pleasantly surprised to be very impressed by Katy O'Brian's performance, she held her own against Stewart and Harris. Until tonight I've only seen her play small bland roles in mediocre Disney+ shows and didn't expect much. I agree Anna Baryshnikov also gave a great performance; btw she's Mikhail Baryshnikov's daughter.

This film just didnt do it for me. I love SOME of the cinematography. They capture the atmosphere and location very well, and the gym scenes were fantastic. But sometimes it just feels like someone shouted that this is an A24 film so be more quirky! I really didnt buy the performance from the actor who played Kristen's father. I've just seen the "dangerous criminal parent" role done much better and in a much more intimidating way. I was not intimidated by this man. I think the score really failed to make him seem as dangerous as the film kept telling us he was. The ending was okay, I think I wouldve liked it more if I had felt more of a sense of danger for the characters but I really didn't. And pretty upset that the truck scene is basically the last scene in the film. I saw it in the trailer and found it intriguing and thought we'd get more of a Thelma & Louise feel to the film but that was the end. I thought they'd be on the run from the dad for a longer part of the movie but thats really the final third only. That said Katy O'Brian lights up the screen and was by far the standout. She has fantastic charisma, and Kristen Stewart does a solid job, but feel like she's played this sort of character before. Unfortunately didnt love this film even though there are things I did love. Honestly, I thought the film was actually a bit tame and didnt go far enough. Or there was just a lack of tension that maybe others felt but not for me. I really think a better score could've added a lot.

In the end I don't think I liked any of these characters as people. I felt like they were all psychos. Lou in the end just proved she was really no different than her dad. The only character I felt an ounce of pity for was Daisy but even she was willing to protect criminals for some affection. This isn't to say I didn't like the film. I think it explored the dark side of love very well.
