So... which one sounds best? Fishman Fluence Modern set or the Fluence Open Classic set? On that note, which one would you keep, the LTD EC 1000T or the EC 1001T CTM? Instead of switching pickups, couldn't a EQ pedal do most of the job? What are the Pros & Cons of either?
@gabriel_guitar
@gabriel_guitar Жыл бұрын
@@JayDoge I suppose it could get similar results in terms of sound, not sure it can replicate compression and how the pickups feel when playing. In terms of Pros & Cons, I'd say the Fluence Modern is virtually noiseless, some people say it's one the quietest on the market in terms of noise, in terms of voicing it's very much geared towards metal, high gain and they're very focused on the mids, you wouldn't necessarily need a boost pedal for metal with these pickups. I personally prefer the Classics, love all the voicings in particular the PAF voicing, and the split coil tones are great too. In this instance like you mentioned with a bit of EQ and an Overdrive Pedal I can get similar tones to the Moderns and much more.

Man, I once was sure I wanted Classics, but I’m still torn, now. The Moderns in my Agile Chiral Nirvana blew my mind (and I’ve never liked active pickups), but I keep thinking about the Classics for my Schecter Omen. They do sound every bit as good as I’d expect Fishman pickups to sound, either way…
@gabriel_guitar
@gabriel_guitar 6 күн бұрын
Hi mate, yeah, fishman fluence pups are excellent. If you already have metal covered on your Agile, I'd definitely give the classics, as much as I like the moderns I feel that the open core classics might be the most versatile pickup set out there, there's not much it can't cover.

Thanks Tony, appreciate it! It really depends on your playing style mate, for heavy riffing and if you’re into active, more compressed sounding pickups the modern set is probably the way to go, for everything else I’d probably go with the classics, even though I really like them for heavier tones too, they’re just a bit more “open” and dynamic sounding.

Hi mate, that’s a tricky one, I haven’t played the open core moderns but from what I gather they’re like ceramic moderns just with improved singlecoil/split tones. This is really cool and a great “song”. I give the Classics the edge on the crunch and that’s why I put them in my guitar about a year ago. I’m curious what’s your gear setup for Rock Riff 2? Love that sound. I have a JCM 800 Combo I bought in 1989 and a Boss SD-1. Hopefully get it dialed in. I need a load box to bring out the essence of that amp. Great playing technique BTW.

Thank you so much for the kind words my friend, really appreciate it! For this particular demo I used ToneX, and the rock riffs are a capture of the Friedman BE100 going into greenback impulse responses. I wish I had the real amp tbh, but for now this is very convenient :). Thank you so much mate, very cool of you! I haven’t tried the Tim Henson set yet, but on paper the humbucker voicings seem to be closer to the fluence classics on voice 2, so probably with less output than the moderns but for the single coil tones it seems to be its own thing and I’d expect a lot more clarity and brightness there, hope that helps🍻
