Why don't you try attaching the inlet of the reactor to draw from outside air?
@sebastianpickens99883 жыл бұрын
Two little fishies COX media works great for me and has a very obvious color change. Raised my ph 0.2-0.3 consistently, you should give it a shot.
@adambahe93093 жыл бұрын
Co2 scrubbers are the way to go. Recirculating makes the media last a good long while. And it’s a great way to “chase ph” but not risking accidentally overdosing your alkalinity to chase higher PH levels.
@Jacropora3 жыл бұрын
Buy your media from a Pharma company its a fraction of the cost, also recirculating works ALOT better, not only at raising your PH but also at reducing the media consumption, it actually makes sense when you go with that method to lower your surface agitation as you loose PH that way.
@TheHerm143 жыл бұрын
Nice video. Do you ever think of dosing Boron to create more stability with your ph. I dose my systems and they stay in a really good range. 7.8-7.9 evening with lights off. 8.2-8.3 with lights on day hours. Just a thought. I know all our systems are different. Nice tattoo of theTrue Percula... If your ever in Cali Bay Area Da Wei Tattoo is the spot.. Fun to get things elsewhere... Great videos..

The BRS CO2 scrubber is only $36 and $7 for a bag of media. And it holds almost 1 whole bag of media. That's pretty cheap.
@MakerofThingss3 жыл бұрын
The latest few batches of BRS media is weird. Get the icecap stuff as a trial, if that helps then you know it was the BRS media. "DiveSorb" is about $60 shipped for 10lb. I'd get about 2 weeks per pound in my system. I used to get 7.6-7.8ph, when just using media into my skimmer (like you have here) I went up to about 7.9-8.1ph. I've now been experimenting with an "aeration chamber" which is basically a mostly closed off section of my sump and using a 1000gph air pump into 2 large airstones and recirculating the air coming out of that back into the co2 scrubber and then into the inlet of the air pump. For the past week I've been sitting at 8.3-8.5 and the media barely looks changed... I've also got my chaeto in that chamber and have found its tripled its growth rate. Some crazy experiments but hey, thats the coolest part of this hobby IMO.

Would it be better to change the inlet of the reactor to take air from the outside air pipe? That's how I did mine and it worked for me.

I also get my C02 scrubber media from a dive shop and it is much cheaper.

Why not run the skimmer through the media. And then outside. the air is fresher outside. Also two little fishies makes the best media.

Swamp the inlet up to make it pull through the top of the media to the bottom of the canister just to see if that makes any difference.

@ronswanson90043 жыл бұрын
The media didn’t change color bc 1 tablespoon of water at the bottom of the canister is not enough. It dried out within a day with a large skimmer like yours. You need to have humid air for the media to work properly. That description on the BRS bag is generic for their small canister reactors. I had the same problem as you. Attached a small squirt bottle to replenish the water at the bottom of the media can. Using up 100FL OZ of water per week and my skimmer is much smaller. I am also drawing air from the outside like you. Lasts me 2 months with the large BRS canister. Probably the size of yours. You just need to replenish the water.
