I bought 2 of the size 15 reels and both have a problem with the spool release lever sometimes does not want to go. I use my thumb to move the spool a bit and then I can flip the spool release.

Bret Chernak mine does the same thing. Plus I don’t like the reset button being so close to the handle. I find myself resetting the counter at the wrong times.

So send them back for replacement or repair.

Did you ever get it fixed? How’d the do in saltwater?

@@calioutdoors5716 no, i just live with it. Maybe it was intentionally made that way so that people don't release the spool if there is any pressure on it, not sure, but none of my other reels work that way, never even other Okumas. I have the smaller ones I use for fresh water only. For salt, the Okuma Coldwater Low Profiles Line Counters are really great though!
