Actually Acheron didn't even do anything or trying to block Black Swan reading her mind. Black Swan did read it, but instead she could only see "abyss" since Acheron past was theorized to be already gone. Literally Black Swan gazed at the void, and the void gazed back at her

The abyss being "Nihility". Keep in mind that Memokeepers (Followers of the Remembrance) are memetic entities, alive through memories. Acheron is theorised to be an emanator of Nihility (Self-annihilators), who are followers of IX who lose their memories for the power of Nihility, the opposite of Memokeepers. So, when Black Swan read Acheron's memories, she slowly treaded into the moment she was gazed by IX. Black Swan being basically made of memories, was being absorbed into the "void" (Nihility) that is Acheron's path. Acheron did nothing, as they say, when you gaze too long into the void, it will gaze back at you.

Remembrance seeks to record events as it believes everything in the universe has meaning, while Nihility believes nothing in the universe has meaning and nothing within it matters. It is said that just being in IX’s (the Nihility) presence is enough to strip one of self-worth or meaning. Memokeepers being entities alive through memories, it is possible that Black Swan got to gaze at IX (Nihility) 9:44, which in turn countered her path of ‘Remembrance’ and almost made her disappear (going back to the effects of just being in IX’s presence and Memokeepers being entities alive through memories.)

Fun thing to note. At the end of the dance, Black Swan has gone completely limp. Meaning that, even though she survived, and seemingly got away from Acheron's mind, the only reason that she hasn't collapsed is because Acheron STILL has a grip on her. So even though Black Swan gave absolutely everything that she had, just to get away from Acheron and survive, she actually failed. Since Acheron still hunted her down and caught her, even out of the mind scape. Which only makes Black Swan's terror at the end even more valid, since a character that was introduced to seem almost untouchable, literally couldn't even get away from Acheron, without Acheron just letting her

Black Swan is a memokeeper, so memories are essentially her source of power. She can collect memories, traverse between them, change her form inside them, make divinations based on them, etc. In a memoria, she is god. The current theory is that Acheron is a self-annihilator, which means her memories are essentially non-existent. Black Swan is powerless in Acheron's mind because there are no memories to hold on to or siphon power from. It's just an abyss of the dead run by a hunter with an instinct to kill, which harms Black Swan. Note that Black Swan is formidable herself, hence, she has the confidence to enter anyone's memories without harm and is equipped with contingencies (e.g., making Sampo and Sparkle forget their encounter). Acheron was unfortunately BS's weakness.

To answer your question about where the battle/dance takes place, during the story there's actually a part where Black Swan comes to the group and says the she was at a ball and met someone and had a dance with. The dance is BS way of initiating her ritual to read Acheron's memory, but Acheron ripped her apart since she is an eminator of nihility and BS couldn't handle it.

What happens when someone devoted to Rememberance runs into someone who embraces Nihility? (which is the polar opposite of Remembrance) Black Swan (who chose her looks based around her mothers memories) gets metaphysically assaulted (which by the way, since she is a metaphysical being actual happens physically to her) and legit ALMOST dies because as a Remembrance devoted person, gazing into Nihility is a straight up DEATHSENTENCE, mean this was quite literally, a near death experience for Black Swan.

I heard someone say the last part was actually IX (the Aeon of Nihility) trying to kill Black Swan and the animals represented her and IX as she tried to escape from Acherons memory so that she would not be erased by the Aeon Acheron has a pact with. Since Acheron basically gave away her memory's in this pact with IX and Black Swan tried to take a look at what is not Acheron's anymore, it's somewhat understandable what exactly happened in that last part of the trailer.
