I have an old Cornelius whitehouse auger , its solid forged it came as a set in different sizes but i only have the 2in diameter one and i use it for deep aeration on lawns over the local heavy clay soils. Maybe time for an upgrade 🤔. A good review as usual Matt .👍

🙂 I’ve had one for a few years now .. and agree with you’re review 👍.. I’ve tried all sizes of the drill size blade attachments .. and all work equally as well , even get through stony soil , and the depth marker is useful , though the deeper you go , the lower the handle gets , but is very robust and strong and gets the job done , without a huge crater .. just pretty much the hole , albeit a little larger than the drill , but no problem whatsoever 👍🤗👍… a really good product , clean and easy to use and reliable .. used mine on everything soil related , and I think it is a good buy , and comes in useful at times even with spade work and deep weed roots etc .. as pretty agile it is , and lightweight and strong with good torque 👍🤗👍… Njoy you’re reviews .. happy gardening 👍🤗👍

Also .. very very strong it is .. if it hits a stubborn root or rock , just reposition it slightly at a different angle .. and away you go again .. deeper and deeper till you’re chin is on the ground 😮.. never tried that deep yet ( probably about a foot ) .. but would do it , I’m sure 😁👍x

I’ve tried all sorts as well .. but generally at some point the fiskars comes to the rescue .. and sometimes it’s all you need in the first place … I even used it to break some ground that was solid , to loosen about 3” of soil before levelling it with a shovel , to lay some paving slabs… The fiskars measure guide on side of drill , came in fantastic for this .. and for getting the depth approx of the actual paving slab , and the depth I needed to loosen ( I had tried other tools , but just not compact enough to get into tight spaces ) and were like digging into hard concrete 😏.. the fiskars helped make it an eazy peazy task .. just by drilling a few holes to depth in minutes over the area … and a quick shovel out , and yay .. had a nice flat and level surface … and was done with very little effort or about 10 or so tools with varying success or not… 😁 as what happens .. and it’s great for crumbling up and breaking roots when removing small trees or shrubs when actually working inside the hole a foot down or so .. to get a root saw or something in … and if it’s a stone or something , it will dislodge it and the soil around it .. and away you go again 👍🤗👍..
