The reason why Japan is often portrayed as the bad guys especially during films set in the 20's to WWII is because of the sheer destructive conflict over those 30 years and the many layers of national/cultural trauma that last to this day.

"portrayed"? The true history! Japanese killed millions of Chinese, treated them like a dogs and called sick man of Asia. They killed all the prisoners as well, Koreans, Indonesians, Filipinos, It was totally murderous regime and genocide!

Fist of Legend is a remake of Bruce Lee's 1972 film Fist of Fury, The part he said '' he would of beaten you if he wasn't healthy or ill''. Means that Chen Zen's Master was defeated by the Japanese master ( that Jet Li beat in the first dojo scene ) while he was sick.

2:28 There's a lot of history between the Chinese and Japanese, but then again Japan had a lot of conflicts with other Asian countries in the past. There's some older gen Koreans who still hold grudges against Japan. What's important is that we don't hold the sins of the past to the newer generations who want to forget or make up for the past.

The reason why jet lee challenge the japanes master is because that master fought jet's shifu and killed him in the fight. So jet just want to prove that his shifu would not be easily killed if they didn't cheat by poisoned him.

To answer the question of why the US bombed Japan, the US was initially against joining World War II, but Japan attacked Pearl Harbor unprovoked, which caused the US to enter into World War II on the side of the allies. The main reason they dropped. Both atom bombs on Japan is because the Japanese military was so indoctrinated and adamant about not surrendering that there was a plan for invading Japan as a whole, because that’s what was expected to be able to force a surrender was to have to take out, literally every single person who was willing to fight. We got lucky they surrendered after the second one because Plan B was to invade the whole country and expected US military casualties were going to be at 1 million, minimum. And that doesn’t even count the Japanese side.

Fun fact in history they always leave out lot of the brown skin Asians in Japan and China often in mainstream history Afu-ra the rapper showed his asian martial arts in song defeat produced by dj premier to showcase all the Asian country martial arts was origin of brown melanin people creation in that region of the east It has truth because I naturally gravitate to taekwondo to kenpo to drunken kung fu to name a few without thought when doing spiritual martial art practices And 52 blocks was brought over into wing chun as well which is amazing🔥 And Everyone know that lot of melanin nationality people created capoeira in Brazil to pencak silat in Indonesia. the japanese are not "portrayed" as bad guys, they were the bad guys committing countless crimes, if u know anything about WWII history, u can literally find these from Chinese, if u dont "trust" the Chinese, check out the Koreans' history book, if u dont trust Koreans, check out Phillipines', Thai peoples', Burmese's... What's left in these countries' and people's mind are not grudges, but history, painful history.
