As a retired, after 31 years, LEO from a major metropolitan city, your view on what a LEO should be, interact with citizens and among themselves is spot on. You have to remember, just like the military and other professions we took an oath to uphold the Constitution and laws of our nation, and every action should be based on that as well as being able to use the discretionary powers given to us in an appropriate manner. Keep up the good work young man I enjoy your perspective on things.

I was a SoCal cop for about 20 years. The ability to communicate is probably the most important skill for a police officer. Sadly, it is becoming a lost art.

I work as a campus "police" PSO. I was shot at on June 5 and it scrambled my eggs emotionally. I wasn't hit because I'm typing but it was 2 rounds at 4 feet. The other rounds were sprayed and prayed. I was in my cruiser and he was in his hooptie ride. Any words for someone struggling with that?

Let’s be honest, the SS failed so horrendously at about every perceivable level it’s shocking and unbelievable, so much so, that it’s understandable if people judge it as intentionally turning a blind eye to unaliving a man. I knew Marines that stood post in and out of theater with a 1000 tons more situational awareness and give-a-fawk than a group of “trained professionals” on that event. Dang, I bet the real ones are embarrassed and ashamed of that detail too. Anyway, off my soapbox. 🇺🇸💪🏼🍻

Yes the snipers should have been able to tell through their glass that the guy wasn't law enforcement. Local law enforcement dropped the ball. Guy was caught looking through a laser range finder at one point. One law officer climbed the ladder knowing the guy had a rifle and didn't have his firearm ready. Saw the guy and retreated down the ladder.

32:37 Meanwhile I’ve applied to become a police officer 3 times, and tried to become a firefighter 4 times in my once rural, now super-suburb central Texas hometown. I believe that I’m a viable candidate, yet even though I’m friends with and can be vouched-for by various guys at different levels of current and former local, state, and even federal agency LEO’s, and even though I know the mayor personally, I can’t even get an interview because I don’t have enough college credits, and my Navy DD214 unfortunately isn’t quite good enough to make up for those lack of college credits. When I hear people say that there’s not enough young adults willing to step up and serve either their country or their community, that sends a shiver down my spine because I‘ve stepped up to serve multiple times in multiple different capacities, and yet I can’t even get a foot in the door. The bureaucratic “paper-dragon” of requirements automatically eliminates so many people like myself who would otherwise be viable candidates. It’s no longer like it was in the past where a young person could come in under some sort of either formal or informal apprenticeship and end up getting hired and receiving on-the-job training. They now demand multiple years worth of schooling and qualifications to even have a chance for LEO, firefighter, or EMS. Meanwhile, an old classmate of mine who was a quirky kid growing up (otherwise seemed like a really good and kind guy back then, honestly) who I would have never thought would go into law enforcement or any other dangerous job, he got hired as a sheriffs deputy, and got into a bad use-of-force incident against a black female veteran in front of her kids. He admitted on camera while being interrogated that “good” use-of-force incidents were being incentivized by his LEO superiors with gift cars to local steakhouse restaurants as rewards, and he was seemingly advised by his legal counsel to resign in order to protect both himself and the county from the backlash that was coming, only for him to be later re-hired by the same exact agency and for the same exact position. Also meanwhile, I once witnessed two young, presumably rookie officers throw to the ground, beat with a baton, and stungun/taze a small middle school Latina girl for simply escorting herself to the cafeteria at the end of the highschool lunch period because there had been no teacher/staff member present in her room that day to escort her, so she had already missed her own middleschool lunch period, and finally worked up the courage to escort herself at the end of the highschool lunch period to try to get her lunch. They beat and tased her… Yet I can’t even get a response or an interview…

So about the Police Officer, when pot was illegal(a felony for a seed) in Nevada I took a job in Lake Tahoe at Caesar’s, it was 1989 I was 25 almost 26. Day I pull in it was fairly late so I rent a hotel room and go drinking, about 3:09am I decided to go to the hotel and was going 95mph down Stateline Road, the main road, and saw the lights behind me, I was shitfaced but got sober very fast. Pulled over by a Nevada officer, Tahoe is on the border of Nevada and California, and he was from my home state, Texas. He let me go because I admitted my mistake and was respectful, no search of my car thankfully or prison would have followed. Earlier this week my 18 year old son gets pulled over in Arlington, Texas because he forgot to turn his headlights on lol, he put both hands on the steering wheel like I had taught him and was yes sir no sir, his registration was out and drivers license expired by a couple of months, being respectful got him a lecture and warning and on his way home, he’s not the idiot I was at 18 thank God! Lesson, be respectful and compliant and you will usually be treated the same. Andy you say often you’re an idiot, if you’re an idiot I am your King, because very few are bigger idiots than my 61 year old dumbass! Love the show, God Bless!

To the guy talking about divorce. Sounds like your wife wants the best of both worlds. Relationship with her girlfriend and using you for the medical benefits. I didn't go back to hear how long you've been together. Some states allow more benefits if you stayed together 5 or 10 years. She could be stringing you along. She has cheated on you twice. How long are you going to let her drag you along?
