Hard to say specifically. I did a Seiko dive watch about a month ago. Parts and labor were 90.00. A tag would be closer to 200.00. Rolex start at 80.00 for the case tube only. Crowns can be as much as 600.00.

We can. It is either the crown or the case tube. Case tubes only, 45.00. Case tube and crown will have to be quoted once I see the watch to determine it’s actual problem

What do I do differently in replacing a screwdown crown on to the stem rather than push type
@watchesandjewelry4 жыл бұрын
Ok. First. Check to see how the post fits into the watch case. Some are pressure fit, some screw in and some are soldered it. If the post is good and it’s threads are still good all you need is the proper crown. The three factors for a crown measurement are the tap(thread size of the watch stem). The mm size of the crown on the outer perimeter. And the mm and tap size of the threaded post. The tap size will usually be the most difficult to determine. However here is the cheat. Every manufacturer has a size chart. You will have to call Customer service and ask for the measurements or the cost of a replacement crown. If you order it you will need the model number of the watch. Always get a new stem. They are cheap and can be cut down to size easily. If you use a generic then order the stem post and crown to match. Threaded posts are easy to install but you will have issues with removing old post. I did an invicta online but I intentionally butchered it as a joke because I’m not an invicta fan anymore. Sorry. But. If you need to drill it out use a lot of care to keep the but straight. I use a drill press. There are cold solders you can use to seal on the post it use parallel tools to seat it. The rest is easy. Let me know if you need some more help

@@watchesandjewelry I'm sorry I could have saved you some time by being more specific I appreciate the help though. Good Question! Being a Jeweler helps... First, we try not to make any scratches, use the BEST drill bits, not cheap ones. Keep your tools away from the object, (in this instance, the watch case). However, I have all the polishing tools I need. Thank may be a great subject for another video!

Hey Peter Grande, I had my Christopher Ward automatic Trident diver (about 7 years old) repaired by a local jeweler (who has a subcontractor watch repair guy do the work for them) anyways, the crown and sleeve were both replaced with none original parts, I can tell the watch repair guy had to drill out space for a different crown and sleeve!! my problem is that it is no longer water resistant... any suggestions?? I hate to keep taking it back since this will be the 3rd time now since the crown would not stay screwed in after it was first fixed.... the original problem was that it would not wind up turning the crown manually , I could set the time and date that's it.... I have almost 200.00 into the original repair, plus I just spent 150.00 on a new bracelet that has my micro adjustments...

You watch too much KZbin where people show a make believe process of sterility and gentle handling. If a time piece can’t handle a little rugged work then it is useless. There is nothing wrong with how he repaired the watch if no damage was done to the time piece.
