This was a very helpful vid to watch before ! fitted the FitCamX dash cam today. The removal of the roof panel does require extra trim tools. I would add that the panel with an airbag light is safe to pull out, there is no airbag fitting just a warning light. FitCamX must have listened to you as my kit had four new clips, so no need to buy replacements from Porsche. Only one negative and that was a lack of rear camera connection on the replacement lead. I'll contact FCX as I purchased the rear camera version. Otherwise all good. I'm pleased with the fitting, connections and quality of clips downloaded to the App.

Any tips on installing the new clips? I'm struggling to get the bottom "pin" pushed in to remove the clip

@@pinoytypr I think I understand your problem, It should wiggle out if you press the centre of the clip back with a small screwdriver, look at one you have got out to see how it's retained in the mounting on replacing use one of the 4 new clips as they are specifically designed to be 'one time use'

Nice video, this is very easy DIY project. Good job. Thanks for share. For the rear wire, some other vedio shown they hide the wire along side of A pillar and the Top edge, which might effect the side curtain air bag deployment! The right way, should remove the A pillar and route the wire toward the front of the A pillar, where should has a small metal pole with some existing wires ties....Or, snake the wire above the Top cover from the rear to the front avoid the side crstain bag and the sun roof....

I just installed mine this morning! Thanks, Borsche Macan. Though it was really hard to install, it was worth it once completed. I thought mine wasn't working because I couldn't see the lights. Then I connected the app, viola it's good.

My 2023 MAcan GTS arrives in 2-3 months. I checked the option of 'porsche dashcam prep' because im guessing they do wiring for you and no matter which dashcam you use, its probably pre-wired for it. Obv the porsche dashcam that u buy from them will work best, but im sure it will help aftermarket ones as well...

20022 Macan, they say it will fit. 3 questions. 1) I have thermal glass, so will this work and work at night? 2) You don't show the rear camera. They sell with a rear. Is the rear worth installing and easy to do? 3) Is power on all the time so you get a parking sensor? Thanks! Great video! I will take to a shop to install as I hate when I screw up!

1) It should work. 2) I did not get the one with the rear camera only front. 3) no power is not on all the time.

great video but I am stuck on putting it back on where it is not clipping right. I bought the clips. How do you take the clips off? Also when you put new ones in, does it automatically clip on correctly?

You need to remove the old clips and put new one into the slots of the old one and just push it up back, make sure once you do that you dont pull it out again! Porsche made these clips a one time use, basically once you take it out, you cant put it back the same way, you need to buy new once.

I used a small thin flat head screwdriver to put in the middle part of the clip then small needle nose pliers to remove the clip. New clips just slide right on.

Can you connect the WiFi to a hotspot to keep the camera online? or WiFi is only a direct bridge to the smartphone; setup and recordings access only?
