Route finding looks awful. There was no discernable trail at all. How did you know which way to go?

This route is pretty straight forward to get to from the Hags Glen. No trail signs anywhere on Carrauntoohil. Imperative people do their homework first if not familiar with the area for other routes.

Would you recommend this to a novice hiker who is physically fit? Would you say it is dangerous at all in a dry summer day?

It's a route that demands respect. It can be done by a novice who is fit with the right equipment. In the summer would be more advisable but it's important you take your time and allow plenty of space between parties.

I would always suggest boots buddy, just to protect the ankles from the scree that litters the mountain 👍

What's best route off mountain if one goes up via ladder

If you are familiar with the route, then you could descend via heavenly gates which would take you to the west side of the mountain, or across the ladder and up the zigzags to drop back down into the Hags Glen.

I would say so, worse case scenario come down the way you go up. Just be careful with parties ascending! Enjoy buddy 👍
