Fitting a JDM GF8 STI spoiler and clear indicators to my Subaru Impreza.

For this video I fit a spoiler from a JDM STI Impreza and fix some rusting on the spoiler brackets. I also fit a set of clear front indicators and paint the small vents below them.
Sorry for the lack of uploads recently I’ve been busy with work and didn’t have much to show, but hopefully I will be more active for the start of this year.

Unsure if you still respond, but I’ve been looking at this model now for a while. How many mpg did you get just driving like a normal person? It’s 2021 and the fuel crisis is kinda putting me off

Absolutely loving the progress on the car so far, it's looking absolutely brilliant and the sti top spoiler really does make such a difference to the UK2000's. Front end looks much cleaner now aswell so top work it's coming together really nicely

Thank you! Yeah the spoiler really makes a difference, that and the rear lights have made it look so much nicer from the back. I'm in two minds about the clear indicators if i'm honest. I think that's just because it looks different from before though. Going to keep them on for a month and see how i feel then. Thanks again.

Yeah having the red and clear Jap spec taillights alongside the larger sti spoiler really does make for a great looking rear on the wagons, I think the clear indicators will probably grow on you as it does completely change the front end when getting rid of the orange but honestly again the cars looking brilliant and I can't wait to see more progress in the future

96055FA160 (left side), 96055FA150 (right side) Those should be the part numbers for the 'hook' parts of the bracket. I'm not sure about the 'base plate' piece though. It's worth having a look on ken-gilbert.com/impreza-manuals That site has loads of manuals with part numbers.

I have a 2000 subie wagon with no spoiler or spoiler mounts on it I'm wondering are the mounts attached useing predrilled holes through the glass or are they attached just using adhesive

To my knowledge there are no holes in the glass. The mount at 4:44 comes in two parts per side, the first part is attached to the glass using adhesive. Then the second part is a bracket that bolts to the first piece and goes round to the other side where it is bolted to boot itself. I'm guessing if you can find the part numbers for the mounts you will be able to fit the spoiler using them, but it may be easier to find a replacement boot with the brackets already attached. Nice detailed install, its really hard to get the top spoiler in the states would u think the 2002-2007 2nd gen impreza wagon would fit ?

Interesting question, I guess if it fits the car width wise it would be possible. If it doesn't line up with the stock brackets you could modify them, or just remove the stock ones and put the 2nd gen ones on. That might be more effort than its worth though. When I was looking out for mine, I noticed a few fiberglass molded ones from China/Taiwan for sale. I doubt the quality will be as good as OEM, but they might be available in the US. Or you could have a look on yahooauctions.jp and ebay japan, a lot of Japanese parts on there are intended to be exported. Be careful though, with all the cheap JDM goodies on there its easy to get carried away! Good luck finding/fitting one.

Sorry for the late reply, I missed your comment. You can pick up genuine and replica ones on Ebay, but the genuine ones are usually for sale in Japan and rather expensive especially once shipped. Best bet is to try and find someone breaking an STI in your country (Might be hard depending on import laws) or get lucky and find one in a scrap yard. Either that or keep an eye out on facebook pages and forums but most people selling them individually know what they're worth so its hard to get a bargain. I've never seen a replica one in the flesh so I'm unsure of the quality/fitment.
