For those not in the know the split pin/cotter pin on top is correct for extreme enduro, since you can destroy the pin while dragging over rocks, etc.

Upward pin on left hand side is a KTM/Husky recommendation so the sidestand doesn't foul the split pin.

10k is very gentle on the bike 😎 Then again putting on $300 AUD foot pegs I’d be wearing snooker ref gloves & a plastic mallet on the pin, with a lil tappy tap in place 😊

Leemondo, I would have put the dowel from the top, in case the split pin brakes, snaps? That way at least the pin cannot drop out? Not s criticism just my two cents…if you’ve a different reason no probs!

I think the reason he put it at the top is so that the pin dosent get damaged in the first place

Sorry, but the pins need to go in the other way round, that way if the cotter pin happens to be lost, the pin will be held in by gravity. The way you sent it in, it’ll fall out in short order if that cotter pin is lost.

Would it not be better to put the pin in from the front? If the split pin fails (not that it ever will, but.....) gravity will possibly work the pin out, from the front it will help keep the pin in..... Fail safe.

No you run them the way they are so that nothing can hit the split pin and break it while the bike is moving forward. It's in is safest position now.

Being as the bike is mostly moving forwards, the split pin has as much chance of being hit in either position, if it fails in its current position, gravity works against the clevis pin, possibly removing it and the footrest.

@@deanbrown9611 the side stand also fouls on the split pin if it's on the bottom, common problem with these huskys/ktm's. Ktm's fix is recommending installing the pin at the top on the left foot peg.

Well im intrigued on why he doesn’t do it pin facing downward. Never had one failed but thats how I’ve always done it. As my old foreman once said “you don’t worry about how i skin this cat, you just hold the tail” 🤘🏼
