Fitting the front protection bar | Aixam Mega Multitruck Van

With a lot of help, we finally fit the front protection bar (protege pare choc in French) in front of the front dash, which was delivered back in August.
Involves welding and English subtitles.
Wasn't quite as straightforward as we first thought because the van needed jacking up, the front wheels also needed to be removed. Longer bolts were needed to replace the shorter ones fitted by Aixam.
Well worth the investment and hassle.

Good video, the bar looks really good now. Can you weld two more brackets along it just behind the bumper for it to bolt to secure it at the bottom?

Thanks. There is one small metal bracket at the front left of the subframe, intended to hold the bottom of the dash panel. There is supposed to be one on the right side, but that seems to have broken off at some point. A replacement one could be welded on. Then out come the cable ties...

@@CaddyConversion He has offered. Which is good because I'd probably be dangerous with a welding torch in my hand.

@@CaddyConversion Have since bolted two brackets onto the protection bar. But as I'll need to cut off the damaged lower bits on the front dash panel, I'll probably have to find a way of fitting an extension on the top part of the brackets. Then use these as a fixing point for the lower part of the dash panel. Life isn't always simple is it? BTW... New soundproofing panels currently on order from Pro VSP. They don't hold them in stock, so they've had to order them in. Cost an arm and a leg for what they are... But hey, what can you do eh?

All this time later I've finally come up with a solution. Hope you have been well.
