Thanks for watching Victoria. I just checked and my one overhangs all round by about 7mm. WC pans seem to come in many shapes so unless you go for a Roca pan that comes with its own branded seat I guess a random seat from B&Q is unlikely to fit perfectly. b33zo

Hi, thank you for your really useful video. We've fitted the toilet seat according to the instructions but the lid is still wobbly. It obviously needs to open and close but it actually moves sideways too by a few mm and I'm sure it's not supposed to do that. Any ideas or should we take it back? Thanks for your support.

Thanks for watching Erika. The seat mechanism has a tiny bit of play in it to function properly but it sounds as if you might have the studs too far apart. Sorry to say but if you loosen the nuts (yes I know its a pain in the knees) you might be able to rotate the round silver caps and get the studs closer together. This should stop the seat slopping about. Good luck. b33zo

I had the exact opposite problem fitting mine, in that the nylon plugs were loose in the holes in the pan - they went in easily but just popped out again on their own when without any pressure, making it nearly impossible to line the seat up with the pan as per the instructions. In the end I just about got it right by trial and error, but really I would like the whole seat about half an inch further forward, but the clamps are already as far forward as they will go. Easy to fit, my ar$e!

A brilliant video that helped me tremendously. I too had to cut the plastic thing in half in order to use it. I must say however that a bit about getting the front of the seat in the right position in relation to the front of the toilet pan would be helpful. I thought I’d finished the job only to find that I had to start again so that the seat protruded over the front of the pan. That involved quite a bit of fiddling and swearing. Not a good idea to do it on a very hot day either 🙄

Hi Maureen thanks for watching. First tip: get something soft to kneel on. You could spend more time on your knees than you anticipate. Secondly the difficult stuff is underneath the pan so a mirror comes in handy to give you an idea of what you're dealing with. Good luck. b33zo

I have a doubt, those black lace are adjustable to a certain maximum of inches. Example if a toilet has 10 inches of hole distance, are there those black sockets (where the screws go) that can be adjusted to that distance or are they always predetermined to the exact distance of the seat that they come with when you buy it? It's that my seat is discontinued and I can't find it anywhere, I want to adapt one to it regardless of whether it is 100% compatible, but the problem I find is that the hole distance of my toilet is 10 inches (24 cm), and no I find no seat with that measurement between the holes, and I was wondering if there are those black lace that you installed, but that can adapt to that distance. Excuse my English, I'm from France.

The white nut doesn’t go through the hole it just sits underneath and snugs up when the screw is tightened. You just need to offer up the lower half to make initial contact. This seat only fits onto flat level toilets not scooped bowl tops.

Got one from B&Q, only three sizes to choose from so picked 'standard size'. Got home, first problem was the plastic lugs, didnt fit like man said so cut in half, after an hour we were still struggling - thinking we had done it, sat down to test stability and the seat came popping out of the fittings. Discovered 'standard' was not actually standard, it was slightly bigger so overlapped over the pan - maybe in China its standard but be advised to measure your old seat before you buy a new one. Too late to take it back as the plastic lugs were cut in two so despite all the great instructions it was a total waste of money
@b33zo
@b33zo 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Sheila. Sorry for your trouble. When I purchased mine I didn't check size so guess I was lucky there. I thing the one-size-fits-all lugs and the different diameter holes in the pan are most of the problem. I you haven't thrown away your old parts you may be able to adapt them to the new seat. At least you know they fit. Just a suggestion. b33zo
