Fitz & Alistair | Not Enough

Even though we only learned about Alistair in season 4 he’s been affected Fitz’s life from the very beginning. You see it in the small details, like how he flinches away from people, how he gets uncomfortable around aggressive or angry people, how he constantly makes sassy comments about how smart he is but then two seconds later will talk about how stupid he is, how he constantly feels like he has to fix everything, how he just wants to be good enough but doesn’t realize he already is, it’s probably why he waited so long to tel Jemma his feelings because he couldn’t comprehend someone loving him back, it’s why he puts characters like Ward on a pedestal because he thinks maybe they can fill the gap his absent father left, how in season 5 he never really defend himself probably because he felt the need to be punished, and there’s so many more things I could talk about.

Never noticed until this episode but after the framework he only ever says "Father," whilst before it he called him his Dad. Not the biggest thing ever but I thought it was a neat little detail. This is a beautiful edit and it's super original as people don't usually choose the scenes you did like the one with Donnie or the "Been through worse," from what looks like 1x7. Great job!

one of the sadness things to me that often goes unnoticed is the parallels between Alistair & Fitz and Fitz & Deke. especially in season 5 when he's struggling big but also in season 6 when he's struggling a little less with his father's voice in his head. He treats Deke horribly. Which of course, he didn't ask for an adult grandson in his 30s but Deke is super obvious about craving Fitz's approval (especially in s6). And instead he treats Deke like his father treated him. "What? No. I'm not a babysitter." "Deke, you coming? Or is this another playdate?" "But... he's the worst." "Of all the people... Why couldn't it have been Flint? I liked Flint." "I thought you said our grandson was a delight." "YOU'RE A HACK! And no bs foundation-" the nicest he ever was to him was the beginning of s6 and the lack of insults in their brief scene together in s7

1:52, even though the framework Fitz was an evil version of Fitz, the scene where his father gets mad at him for snapping at him, gets under his skin, talks down to him and will do everything in his power to ruin him and bring him down hurts. It actually makes me feel bad for Evil Fitz and makes me angry and resentful of his dad. It also makes me hold a grudge against him.

I'm really surprised that Fitz didn't mention his father while being trapped in the mind prison. It would've fit perfectly and would've kept the continuity of the relationship.

i mean isn’t the doctor a representation of his father and what he did to him or could have done him? also i’m pretty sure Fitz is still not ready to deal with all that his father has done to him. it’d be interesting to see him with our Fitz now.

This was so good. Edits like these are the very best. I’d love more of these videos going into different character relationship and mental/emotional journeys with the different AoS characters. Stuff like Daisy finding her family/families and who she is, Ward being manipulated by Garrett, Lincoln becoming a true SHIELD agent sacrificing himself for the team, Mack and Yoyo getting past all their obstacles, May caring for others, Coulson and death (fearing it/accepting it/feeling like he deserves it), Talbot trying to be a hero, Trip making everyone smile, Simmons caring for others after always being cared for. The possibilities are endless and it will make for a really good playlist.
