Indeed Rob. Korn, AC/DC, and countless others...we weren't the first, but sure enjoy continuing on this rawkin' tradition ;-)

Korn led me to not only this song, but to actually learn how to play the bagpipes

As a piper who plays and loves this tune (both as a piobaireachd and a slow air), I was skeptical when this popped up on my screen. But this is great!

I second this, JW. The first half being my favorite (of course) but I’m so glad I gave the second half a chance. Haunting interpretation and tribute of this tune!

@@troubledrogue Thanks Mc B. So happy it resonated and that you gave the second half a chance. We really love bringing this story to life.

this is great...putting rock to the great traditional gong....sometimes I try to simulate bagpipes with my telecaster...they probably make a pedal for it but i use a harmonic overdrive...of course it's sort of silly...but it gets the general idea across...i particularly like this dirge. thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong... but wasn't this tune featured in the original "Highlander" (1986)??
@FiuranBand3 жыл бұрын
I vaguely remember Highlander, although remember it as an intriguing movie. Don't know if they use this classic pipe tune or not...will have to loop back for a listen. Thanks for the comment. You've got me curious.

@@FiuranBand You are more than welcome!! I first saw the original "Highlander" (1986) back around 1992. As strange as it may sound... that movie was one of my very first memorable introductions to Scotland although it is much more of a Sci-Fi movie than anything related to the history or landscape of Caledonia. Nevertheless... I credit that movie for introducing me to Scotland in all its stunning and natural beauty. The iconic scenes of Glencoe, the Isle of Skye, the Highland Region and especially Eilean Donan Castle... ...almost jumped off the screen at me and have been some of the most beautiful sites and visuals I've ever seen. I had the privilege and luck to visit Scotland back in 2008... and it was everything I thought it would be an much more... and, of course, it was a dream come true. My only disappointment was that I couldn't stay longer. Actually, I didn't want to leave. Scotland stole my heart. 💝🏴🏴. Something else I should note about the movie "Highlander" was the Bagpipe scenes. Actually... there aren't very many of those, but they are still there. Specifically... when Connor and the rest of Clans MacLeod and Fraser arrive at Glencoe for battle, we see and hear a Piper playing on a hillside as the Clansmen charge at each other. The next Bagpipe tune that I remember is the scene back at Eilean Donan Castle following the battle where Connor is dying from his injuries... and the Piper is playing against the backdrop of the sun setting just behind the Castle. In summary... the tunes of the Pipers playing just before (and just after) the battle are some of the most beautiful, as well as the most haunting, that I've ever heard. While I'm certainly no expert at the Bagpipes... I would like to find out what the names of those songs are.
