Styx-paradise theater. Great rock/pop. No filler. ZZ Top-1st album. Raw and a glimpse of things to come. Love it. INXS-Kick. Michael Hutchence. One of the finest vocalists in any genre. Fantastic. I see your Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and I raise you a Grease soundtrack. Great catchy songs. Last pick is a cheat…..Carpenters greatest hits. Not many better then Karen. It’s a total Zen listen for me.

No reason for punk, disco and rock to not co-exist! Of those artists, Sex Pistols are the only ones I've seen, but that was their first reunion show after 18 years (Finsbury Park Punk Festival, London). By the way, Steve Jones played a lot of bass on the album, as Glen Matlock had left and Sid Vicious was useless. Five albums that make me happy? Ok: Deep Purple - Burn: Released in early '74, but it has a summery vibe on even the darker songs, with the title song rock's most exciting. A Taste of Honey - Same title: 1978 disco with Boogie Oogie Oogie and its b-side, World Spin. These ladies wrote and played brilliantly. Lots of train references, which I love. Nirvana - Bleach: Their first album, from '89 or '90. Very heavy, very intelligent, and one of the best debuts. Sibelius - Karelia Suite: Any version of this is guaranteed to get me smiling. A lot of Sibelius' work is very dark, with his First Symphony a brilliant but emotionally-draining experience. Karelia Suite is just happy! Laura Branigan - Self Control: Her 1984 album, and a UK breakthrough in the album charts. Lots of styles here. The song itself goes from a heavy riff to perfect Eurodisco. Reminds me of getting my first flat (apartment) and going for walks nearby.
