Panzer Leader was my first wargame. I bought it at the Gamekeeper in Bangor, Maine in 1978-ish. Still have it on my shelf. It opened up a whole new world for me that's still expanding 45 years later. Good ol' Avalon Hill!

Hi Eric. I'm a gamer in the Portland area. Are you still in Maine? Always looking to meet fellow gamers.

@@johnreuter4916 Me too. I know how that is. But alas no, while my folks still live in Wells, I live in Connecticut now.

A nice review .... Though I was much more of an SPI gamer in the 1970s, I played both 1776 and Luftwaffe often. Both games leave a great deal of room for new strategies and innovation. Thanks for discussing older games.

Thanks for watching Nick. I like both 1776 and Luftwaffe.

Oh Yes, the memories ! Played all those except 1776. Blitzkrieg was my first wargame from AH. What a monster to start with but finally got it. Between myself and a friend, we had 95% of the AH games. Would like to see if you play/have some of the later (late 80's, early 90's) AH games. My five favourites from that period would be Breakout Normandy, Advanced Third Reich, Titan, History of the World and ASL. Enjoy your videos, thank you for your time and effort. BTW, still trying to convince the wife on a 3D printer. Any recommendations on size, make and model, for mainly counter tray use?

I got out of gaming during the late 80s and got back in a little over a year ago. So I never really played any those, but that is not saying that I won't be getting them. I just have the Ender 3 pro which is not really expensive. For me it had worked well.

That's a great list. I own them all and even gave two copies of PB and PL to do macrogames with them. Please do the five flat boxes. Afrika Korps was my first wargame at age eight in 1975. I would like to hear your thoughts on Decision Games version of Luftwaffe as well.

Yeah, Dave. I hope to check out the Decision Games Luftwaffe soon. I will be doing the flat boxes soon.

@@jsharp7813 It's right on the table like Battleship. Closest attempt I saw was 3 guys tried War in the Pacific. They set up two copies of the game in separate rooms. One Jap player, one Allied player and one referee who tried handling anybody who was spotted, rules challenges etc.
@jsharp7813 Жыл бұрын
@@markvacc13 Yeah, on the table, but hidden by a screen. The screen wasn't much, but I made a larger "hood" that covered both movement boards. We often had a referee to assure we followed the movement and spotting rules. Worked pretty good! I still have that cardboard hood, made out of a McDonalds French fry box. Folded flat for transport. I dug it out a few years back at the WBC. Vince Meconi and I played a game using it. A blast from the past!
