Love your videos I have a few vintage lenses now they are great. I recently bought a Pentax SMC 50MM f/1.4 The bokeh from it is amazing.

Referring to previous comments, a possible idea might be showing how to use these types of lenses on modern mirrorless cameras, use of focus peeking etc? Just a thought.

My 200mm vivitar f3. 5 M42 came today it seems in very good order and cared for.. Focus buttery smooth... click stops were a bit chunky but after treating with my classic brake cleaner it was just fine... I sanitized the body...there was some very slight fungus signs inside front elements...but not much... Is very sharp as can be seen in videos on this lens on you tube 4/5 elements and 8 diaphragm highly recommended... truly...

Love the videos, keep up the great work. One possible idea for a video is where to find these online. I have chosen poorly on eBay twice and I am a little gun shy to continue trying without a plan. I have had better luck (in the US) with KEH. Regardless, it might be an idea for a video. Thank you again for the videos!
@barrycohen3115 жыл бұрын
Using Ebay is "Russian Roulette." But I have been lucky there, and they do have the Buyers Protection program and all of that. KEH is a good one. Also, check for used / vintage camera stores in your area.

I got some nice Olympus stuff from a guy on the alt Olympus forum if it is still there. Old school internet circa 2000 before social media giants hijacked it for gossip and politics. When it was just for geeky people interested in interesting things who can't find someone to understand them in the local pub.

I recall you saying the Zuiko 50mm 1.8 had busy bokeh compared to the 1.4. Would the 1.4 be the better bokeh monster then?
@zenography79235 жыл бұрын
I think it is marginally better and it certainly makes mmore blur wide open - having said that, the 1.8 is a little gem, and cheap too!

Every new vídeo of yours, just makes me want more lenses!!! Stop it already!!😂😂😂 JK.
The Carl Zeiss Jena is a very, very sore point here at this time, one I have refused to focus to infinity and when it finally did it fell to bits on me! not overly worried it did that as it has fungus growing in it too so will need a strip down but was shocked it just fell to bits!
@zenography79235 жыл бұрын
Oh no, that's really unlucky! I can understand you feeling a little aggrieved. Probably worth getting it fixed professionally, as it's such a nice lens.

do you think you can change the shutter cirtains on a Fed 1 on your own? what precaution should i take if i do so? (did the classic mistake speed before arming...)
@alanstanway61185 жыл бұрын
I think it very likely that you will cause more damage if you try a repair yourself. Replacing the curtains is tricky. By all means have a go but be prepared to buy another body.
@zenography79235 жыл бұрын
I agree with Alan - in theory it's possible, with time and a lot of care and patience, but if you're new to camera repairs I'd suggest letting a professional do the job. It's worth a little investment - you'll have a camera that will last many more years!
