I found these drills are also really helpful with mastering free mounting, Thanks!

I've recently started riding unicycle again after 20 years since I last rode. I originally learned when I was 10 years old and now I'm 54. I enjoy your videos with all the helpful tips - thanks!

Good for you - that’s very similar to my path as well. I probably had a 15 year drought of just carting my unicycle from apartment to apartment with me without ever using it. I’m glad you’re back on and having fun!

Really enjoy your videos Dan, particularly interested in this one, started learning 2 years ago, now 67, I can string together 2 to 3 hundred metre rides to make 2 or 3 kilometre rides, still can't free mount, working on that but falling is my big worry. I always jump off the front easily when my legs fatigue but falling off the back always ends with hitting the ground and banging myself up. I ride a 20 inch, want to move up to my 24 inch (I have ridden it) when I improve my skills, like idling and free mounting. My goal is to get comfortable enough to ride distances on my Nimbus Oracle 26 inch muni around my streets. I have ridden it but came off the back and the studs on the pedal clawed my leg on the way down, so I'm a bit gun shy of rearward get off's. The extra height makes me nervous. Could you do a video about how to improve distance riding for people that can ride but struggle after a few hundred metres, trying to get more weight on the seat and less on the legs, but that's hard to do, comes with time I guess, and the hardest thing for me to do is looking ahead, I keep watching everything in front of me that's going to throw me off. Love the comedy you add to your movies mate. Awesome channel, I'm learning a lot from you, just so hard to put into practice, but getting there, an hour every day training. Last thing about falls, the one that get me the most are when I'm suspended and the uni stalls under me, can't reach the ground with either leg and I don't know which way I'll fall, it's almost slow motion panic if you know what I mean. Ken thank you for your message! Of course I can do a video on getting comfortable in the seat for distance riding. You’re right that it does come in time but there are tips and mechanical techniques that I can share to help. Also - I’m super impressed to hear about the progress you’ve made. It’s easy forget sometimes that you’re literally riding on a single wheel for a few hundred meters and that alone is so impressive. Let me make this a point to make this video in a few weeks and I hope it can be of assistance. In the meantime if you haven’t checked out this video on mounting, maybe it can help: Mounting a Unicycle - Everything you needing to know in 10 minutes! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHOqoZ2aecmJoZY Best of luck and I’ll be sure to get on this soon!

Ken, Keep it up. You will keep improving. I'm 64 and mostly ride a 27.5 Nimbus Oracle. A couple of remarks from my own experience, that I hope will help. If I'm trying something new that feels dangerous on the uni, I will pad up, helmet, forearm elbow pads, and Kris Holm full shin-knee pads. The KH shin-knee pads will prevent pedal jabs, but they get hot, so most of the time I just wear soft knee pads if the ride is not dangerous. The second thing is concerning, "when I'm suspended and the uni stalls under me". This is a scary one. My solution is to immediately split the legs apart and just wait for the uni to spit its self out the front or back. HoboDan's video's are excellent the way he clearly explains everything.

hey mate, that's a great read, really appreciate your effort. sometimes I feel I'm too old to have a go and should give up, no body around me gets it, so it's pretty lonely and I try just to keep to myself, which is hard because this is a drug and I'm definitely improving and loving it. This is a great community and I really value your comment. I'm feeling fitter doing this, I feel like I'm winding back the age clock. thanks mate.@@thelonelyunicyclist
