07k is a fun motor to swap in mk1s 2s and 3s its harder to make big power figures like the 1.8t and tsfi motors but are simple and super reliable I currently have a 07k and 02j from a 2006 beetle that will be going in a mk3 jetta 2.0 aba whenever the turbo aba gives up the ghost i run it constantly at 25psi😂😂 stock obd1 bottom end, head gasket spacer, custom short runner intake, larg ported head with big valves, springs, 282 degree cam, lots of work done to the combustion chamber, 78 mm turbo on a stock ecu with a SplitSecond maf modifier 440cc injectors 450lph pump and a snow performance water methanol kit, it’s kinda a send it build I wanna see what breaks, I broke a piston on 91 octane at 15psi, replaced pistons with a obd2 set and used vw 2.0 industrial engine piston rings, increased ring gap then switched to e85 now it’s been sold for 15,000 miles at 25-30psi probably right around 280-300hp. The 07k is going to be insane, more torque off the line once I figure out tuning me7 then I’ll go turbo and run 310-350 hp with way less lag the 2.0 takes a full 2-3 seconds to make 25psi

Update on that first motor (I ended up buying it from James a couple months back), I'm working on rebuilding it for some major power, managed to hunt down a new oil pump for it (shimmed for 85 psi) and the main caps and all of the mating surfaces ended up being pretty much perfect after having machine shop look it over and they gave it a clean bill of health. Definitely wouldn't have trusted it without having some folks look at it first though. Still saving up for some valvetrain bits and bobs but it's slowly progressing. I have to finish hunting down an audi 80/4000cs for it still though Hyped to see that rabbit running!
