Very enjoyable videos, Joe. A possible program idea --- IBM Executive Typewriters with micro-elite type. I bought one second-hand 42 years ago. It has an 18-inch-wide carriage (!) and some special keys for Section and Paragraph so I wondered if it was a model designed for law offices. (Literally: "small type" and could handle legal sheets sideways!) The micro-elite type resembles 8-point printers type, so it's very much smaller than pica type and noticeably smaller than elite type, and it has proportionately spaced characters. I have never known of anyone else who has a model like this, not to mention that KZbin doesn't have a video on such an IBM that I've been able to find.

I just got a Royal Apollo electric and the platen is hard as a rock. I wish it was easier to remove the platens on those things.

I’ve used overhead projector sheets as backing sheets before. Got the heavy duty ones, but sometimes if the platen and rollers are slick it can’t grip the plastic

I use a heavy duty three ring binder page protector from Avery or similar--not the dollar store--these are slightly textured to eliminate reflection. I get two backing sheets from each page protector sheet. I have also had good results from plastic three ring page dividers just cut off the index tab. Again you need to buy quality product. My mate uses a sheet of watercolor paper from his sketch book. It is thicker than 24 pound bond and textured. Good luck. Rodney Hamilton

There were some electronic IBM Selectric machines with parallel printer interfaces. Connect it to a PC with voice recognition and there you go!

Hi Joe, So, does this mean you got your Royal O up and running again? Hope so, since you said it's been a favorite lately, and if my favorite was down, I'd be a bit bummed. I finally got the Ted Munk repair Bible, and I also went ahead and got one for the Hermes and the Royal Sabre, which is pretty much the same as my Aristocrat Special, except the way the margins are set is different, the Special has these aluminum pegs with this ruby red dot in the center of each left and right peg. Right now it's only issue is with the shift, it seems to catch on the D key only, so that might be a fun fix, stay tuned on that, I'll let you know, for now, still recovering from surgery. That letter ever make it to you? When I lived in Arizona, we had slow mail. Took two week to send anything out or to receive something. My best to you and the Mrs.

I soak my non wooden platens in wintergreen oil and alcohol just keep an eye on it because it will get too soft
