Hi Steve - This is as black hole in my musical knowledge. I know of Tone Poet, have heard great things, but I don't own any. Fabulous looking records!

I’ve been trapped in the Jazz rabbit hole 🕳️ for many many years. I love it. These days Jazz is what I listen to mostly. I think you might enjoy some of it. ✌🏽

Steve, those albums are fantastic, both in terms of their presentation and content. I like that you've chosen some lesser-known artists and titles. Andrew Hill is an incredible player. I wasn't familiar with Jack Wilson's work. The Wayne Shorter album is excellent.

Both The Tone Poet and Classic Series have been highly educational for me. Through their releases I discovered great album titles where artists I otherwise knew as sidemen (or never heard of at all) were leaders and composers. An education far worth the cost.

Great video. Love the Tone Poet series. Buy most of them myself. So great to get clean beautiful sounding albums! That Jack Wilson is fantastic. And Wayne Shorter is one of my all time fave jazz musicians. If you haven't seen the documentary about Wayne called "Zero Gravity" it's fantastic and is so worth a watch (believe it's on Amazon) I'm new to the VC. I posted my first video about 4 weeks ago. I also have a video up where I talk about my journey into jazz. Just found your channel and I saw a few comments on this video by some VC members that also subscribe to my channel so really wanted to check it out. They have good taste. I just subbed to your channel and look forward to your next video. Cheers Bobby

I’ll certainly watch it this weekend. Cheers friend! ✌🏽Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. We appreciate the sub.

i don't have any of those artists, but i am sure they are great albums steve!

Hi Dave! They are not the norm of titles nor are they the most prolific Blue Note recording artists but they contain some of the best jazz I’ve ever heard. Cheers Buddy! ✌🏽

Nice to hear about these albums Steve. My problem with Tone Poets was there were just too many coming out and they were getting more expensive. Now I watch A Avon as they often will drop the prices of the Blue Note jazz albums. There has been some great albums for sure but with prices I really have to pick and choose.

I never felt the need to buy them as fast as they were releasing them. Most of the Classic Series titles eventually found their way on Amazon for less than Don’s MSRP. I was very fortunate to have a friend that worked for RTI/ Blue Note division. On a weekly basis he received multiple promotional copies of Jazz releases from Blue Note, Verve and yes Third Man Records. He often received doubles. He was very generous with me. He was a customer of mine and knew my love for jazz. I knew his love for good Bourbon. I’d buy him a $75.00 of Bourbon and get $200.00 worth of records. It lasted for about a year. All good things must come to an end. He left the company. I cried. Lol
