Our summers are like most winters - we stay in inside with the AC running. It's not really that bad once you get used to it. Most exerciser types try to go out very early in the morning. True athletes acclimate to the heat - my kids played football and soccer with the the season starting in August and did just fine practicing in the evenings. Everyone drinks LOTS of water.

When we first moved to AZ in 2004 we heard all these stories about the heat from fan belts melting to windshields exploding. Not true. Heat is something you have to deal with and prepare for in AZ. Just stay inside and find something to do, works for me. We also spent $3,000 having our a/c system replaced, more energy efficient. Pros and cons just like any city in the U.S.

I have some relatives that use to live in phoenix and they said a dip in the pool was like taking a dip in bath water because the water in the pool was very hot I live in north carolina and summertime temps are usually around 90-95 which is bearable hot if the humidity is low which hardly ever happens but if the humidity is high like around 75-80% you start sweating in about 2 minutes if not less

Personally I like the pool water on the warm side - I am kind of wimpy when it comes to chilly temps! Our temps are high in the summer but much more tolerable then the high humidity. I haven't experienced it but is sure sounds miserable.

The problem with AZ summers is the temperature does not go below 100 degrees all summer long even at night. When you wake up at 3am and it is 108 degrees outside, it is unbearable. Also, the sunlight is just searing and never ending. You can feel it burning your skin the moment you step outside - it really does feel like you opened up an oven. There are rarely cloudy days to break up the searing heat of the sun... Of course, that keeps the humidity away but sometimes I just wish it would rain so that the searing heat would be broken up. I've been to many other states in the summer, including humid southern states, in which it is still pretty uncomfortable - but I also remember in the evenings the temperature would drop a bit more significantly and we could enjoy an evening out on the patio grilling or running in the grass in bare feet.

Our winters average 60-75 degrees during the day! Guess we're opposite seasons. Our best season, winter, our worst, summer. Well it's desert. My mom used to live in conneticut and my dad used to live in Colorado. It never gets over 90 in those places. Well conneticut probably recently suffered a heat wave but fall has arrived! I've been to NY but when I was like, 4. I wish I could go again.
@shellw12767 жыл бұрын
+kai If you are from the UK, you'll want to go to Phoenix in our late Winter or Early Spring. EARLY is the word. As Kristin says in May or later it starts to get Very hot, for several Months. If you do visit during the times I mention, you Must make reservations far In Advance. That is Peak Season for business people (corporate meetings at hotels) and recreational travel visitors. It's Paradise for people who are from cold climates (and for Everyone, in general!) Also, that Peak Season means that the Hotels are Very expensive, compared to the hot Summer, when the hotels have wonderful discounts, since that's their slow time of year. Peak season means that often Hotels are sold out, so that's why I said to make reservations in advance. It's a Beautiful place to visit! I hope you can make it! Lastly, try other cities in Arizona while you're here. You may want to also go to California or Nevada, since they are sort of "nearby" while you're visiting the USA. It depends on your travel budget, of course.

I know. The summers here are kinda miserable. But compare the 115 degree weather to below 0! Back in 2013 it hit over 120 I think but I hardly ever go outside in summer. School does start in August though and it's still another month and a half with dry heat. Until mid September-ish when temperatures start dropping and monsoon ends. Hey, morning and evening temperatures recently started dropping to the 60s and 70s, but enjoy it while you can, it can get over 80 a couple more weeks. Until October when snowbirds start flying into sky harbor. In July the nighttime temperatures may not even get below 90! I know.. And Pokemon Go I know. It was a big hit. People prefer to be out in early morning and late evening in summer though.

Scorpions are pretty common out here. Some areas more than others. I have been stung - it's a similar experience to a bee sting, but seems to stay numb longer. He's submitted over 50 resumes (not all in the manufacturing field) & there's still many he hasn't applied to yet. I'm definitely amazed at the sheer amount of jobs out there! We currently live in a semi-rural area, so it's definitely much more than what is available here. He currently works for the largest company in our area. Unfortunately, due to a buy out & then company-wide downsizing, he will be laid off, effective June 30th. The chances of finding another job at the same salary level while staying here are slim; so we decided if we're going to move.. let's go BIG & make a dream come true! We're saying our prayers & crossing every finger & toe in the hopes that something in your area will come through! ;)

You forgot how people leave there kids cars and 1-4 are killed in cars each year most are high on drugs or just stupid. I remember a few years ago they found that lady dead at north mountain in the bushes she went hiking in July with a few bottles of water. You people from snow country are crazy to move here you have no idea how hot it gets. Most of you will end up just sitting in your home all day from May - September. It never cools off at night in July it will be 101 at 4:30 am. The AC runs all day and night and the bills can be as high as $750 a month if you own a big home 2800-3500. Smaller homes the bills are in the $300s. You can get it lower with a high efficient home but it has to be on the smaller side 1700-2200sqf.
