This is such a beautiful and touching song. Several months ago during my pregnancy, two doctors and a specialist gave me some devastating news that my baby girl was not going to survive after my delivery. I was told it was possible she was going to pass away at anytime while being in the womb, or shortly after I give birth to her. On my last appointment, I was told “ma’am ... have you thought about getting started on a burial for your child? Or maybe thought about cremation? Or .. any arrangements at all?” I held in my tears and emotions as much as I could till I got to my vehicle. As soon as I sat down in my car, I bursted into tears and I screamed why her. Why, my baby. It wasn’t fair for her to not live and experience life that is now being taken away from her and so soon. Shortly after getting myself together, when I was leaving from the parking lot, this song came on. It brought more tears to my eyes and the pain felt even worse. Although, she was still alive and moving. It felt as if she was taken away from me the moment the doctors had told me about setting up arrangements. I was 100% sure that I wanted to play this song when the time came. ........ on April 6th, 2020 at 1:53am... I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl who was diagnosed to be healthy and was going to live after all! ❤️ (‘: Every time I hear this song, it brings tears to my eyes. Knowing I might have lost her. God is good. ❤️🙏🏼

I lost my mother unexpectedly in 2013. I was only 17 at the time. I still feel lost without her, even at 25. Not a day goes by where I don't miss her. The Offspring was one of her favorite bands and FFDP is one of mine. To hear this cover tugs at my heart. 'Til we meet again, Mom.

As a 15 year old, I’m literally listening to this song playing Xbox as I got the call that my grandpa had passed away. I had literally just lost my stepdad a year ago and now my grandpa. As I walked into the hospital in tears, this song is going through my mind the whole time saying my final goodbyes until we meet again. I’m about to face life and reality and not be a kid anymore. I have a long hard road ahead of me and it’s just not easy to take in the death of a loved one. Lost but not forgotten. I can’t wait to see you again grandpa. Love you and god bless you. I hope I never forget this song.

I also had a wakeup call at an early age. The comfortable life i had was gone and replaced with nightmares and heartache. And when i say gone i mean almost literally. My dog/childhood best friend was murdered, dad was diagnosed with alzheimers(he's dying), childhood home lost and everything stolen. Had to move into a shitty tiny camper with my abusive ex. Went from being comfortable surrounded by family to dirt poor and depressed, accompanied by drug use and bruises. Became a cat hoarder. I'm 23 and I'm out the relationship but things are still rough. Just lost my daughter(my cat) and I'm not okay. Appreciate what you have. Even the small things that don't seem to have importance because it does. Enjoy the time you can with your family and be the best you can be for yourself. I miss waking up to the smell of coffee, cartoons playing, birds chirping early in the morning with the sun shining through the trees into my window with cold feet from October weather. You really don't know what you have until it's gone. Not truly. And word of advice, just because someone might have it a little worse than you doesn't mean you shouldn't try to keep your head above the water. Don't wait until you hit rock bottom to fix your life or to start focusing on your feelings. Treat it seriously as soon as you feel yourself start to sink. And remember, help is always nice but in the end it's yourself you should rely on the most. I'm sorry for your loss.

Not to make the situation even worse but I did as well lose my mother in a house fire when I was 8 on 3/27/12, life just goes on and you have to accept it. It may hurt at first but you’ll come to terms that their deaths weren’t for nothing... her death made me realize the good in life and how to cherish people and hold on to the ones that are still here. Even at my weakest I’m still there for everyone because you never know the day you or they will be gone... don’t ever take it for granted.

Man, I don't know about anyone else, but as soon as it gets to the lyrics "I reach to the sky, and call out your name. Oh please, let me trade. I would." for the first time in the song, I can't help but tear up a bit. Anyone that's someone unexpectedly loss someone or a loved one will definitely have this song hit close to home.
@Keyc946 жыл бұрын
the whole song is a full reflection of the misery after a huge lost. All parts hits another feeling. i know this song for years and the part how hit me the most is "Leaving flowers on your grave Show that I still care But black roses and Hail Mary's Can't bring back what's taken from me" There is something in life you will never have back it doesnt matter what you do, what u wish, what u think or what you believe... the person is gone and not just out of your life, you will never have the chance again to see the person.... and that is so fucking brutal, savage, rekt... the most brutal part by this lost.
@gps17016 жыл бұрын
A reflection? more like a regret. after the bridge in the original he screams "Don't sell your soul" why? I was 28 when The offspring broke and they were huge with "Come out and Play" only the writer know's why he screamed out those words. But this song is total rubbish.....
@Keyc946 жыл бұрын
he says "I'll save your soul" (this part shows that u want protect the person also after the dead, so much love) i know it is hard to hear but search for the lyrics. It is nothing about regret it is all about misery. Do you mean the song is rubbish or the cover? This song is one of the top 5 songs by offspring and my personal nr1. But the cover is shit in my opinion.
@gps17016 жыл бұрын
No the remake is rubbish IMO and your right but is there a definite lyric sheet I've looked, Also it was during there decline a bit and I'm not sure how he could save someones soul? A real cover is "The Sound of Silence"
@Keyc946 жыл бұрын
Your lyrics "Dont sell your soul" make for me no sense in the whole song. "I`ll save your soul" can you interpret in different ways one is "even he cant trade" he do everything to honor the person to dont forget the person...but they are always other option left, you can do it for your own.

As a metal head, I appreciate FFDP’s version of this song. Lyrically, the story is the same as The Offspring’s version (obviously). But the way FFDP composed this makes it so much different...personally, I like The Offspring’s version better. But music isn’t an argument over who’s better. It’s all in perspective, and this is very easily respectable and VERY kickass. Good job FFDP for doing a great justice to a great song👍

For me, personally, I also like the Offspring version. This version gives me no feeling. Offspring made me feel the pain of the song. However, I can appreciate the effort of FFDP in doing it. My little brother was killed trying to break up a fight... He was the kind of person that everyone loved to see and hang out with. This song means so much to me. I know The Offspring wrote the original but you guys did such a great job covering it! Makes me cry every time. Not only because it's absolutely beautiful but, so meaningful for me as well. I love you guys. You all are so great! Glad you're doing better Ivan. What i would do to meet you all!

Yesterday, my friend that I've known for ten years took his own life. He was young, incredibly intelligent, and had such a unique personality. I noticed a change in how he acted, but never questioned it. Whenever I hear this song, I can't help but cry. Suicide is a horrible thing. It affects everyone who's ever known you/them. It invokes questions that can't be answered. Please, please help those who are depressed. Don't make my mistake. Know the signs. Help prevent horrible tragedies like this one.

Evan Gibeau Agreed. In psychology, we learned the signs when people will commit suicide, the most blatant of which is the abrupt change of one’s personality. We were given a list of hotlines to prevent suicides, to act on it. I know that people dismiss these things commonly, but they help. And don’t blame yourself, that is not the way.

I hate when people get mad when people cover a song. Always have something to say like not near as good as original or I like there original stuff better. What you fail to realize is its not about sounding like the original. Its about feeling something from a song and expressing your personal emotion through the song. Not about trying to be a copycat. Of course that would be annoying just like tribute bands.

4 years ago, I had a friend that loved country, but always loved rock, she was my best friend, my best mate, my angel from heaven who always had my back, and I always had hers. We met in high school, beginning of senior year. We would draw, hang out at my grandfather's backyard, and lay down on the grass, and just talk. We both never wanted to part ways. 1 year later, I'm working on the weekend, and she called me, and just said " we're going to prom, and we're gonna slow dance to our favorite country song. 😁" and I replied with "😳 HELL YEAH! 🤘🏻😝🤘🏻" we slow danced to "Remember When" by Alan Jackson. Then when we got back to her place, we saw this song on the recommended page. We loved it. But then she said "if I pass away, I want you to play this at my funeral." It kinda made us a little sad, but we didn't think too much on it. A few days later I ask if we can go for a walk. We walk to the park, and I ask her if she will be by with me. (Not Merry, just be in a relationship with me) she grabs my hands, and says, "I would love to, but im scared of hurting you, I don't want there to a argument to where we don't want to be with each other anymore. I will have to think about it. I promise to give you a answer." We both continued back to her place, and we hung out. A week later I get a phone call.......it's her parents. They called me and told me that she died from a asthma attack, they called 911, but by the time they got there, there was no puls. I broke down, and I had to leave work, and meet with her parents to arrange a wake, and then a bariel. I didn't want to accept the fact that she was gone. I got back to the truck, and asked "why God? Why her?" My heart felt like it was ripped in half. A few days later at the wake, I played our prom song. "Remember When" by Alan Jackson. When I said my goodbyes at her grave, I left her angel statue at her grave. When I got home, I played this song, and I bursted into tears. This song always reminds me of her. Her name was Amelia. August 27th 2019. She was 19. My best friend, My best mate, My angel from heaven. Rest with God Amelia, you will always be in my heart. 😔🙏🏻❤

When I hear this song I think about my cousin. A little more than two years ago he was taken from us by gun violence. I'm for gun rights. But the way he was taken was so unnecessary. I was unable to attend his funeral. And it tears me up inside. My cousin probably never heard of Five Finger Death Punch. But I sure as hell would have introduced him to them. When I listen to this song, it helps me push away the guilt. David Ballinger, I love you cousin and I miss you. #gonebutneverforgoten

I feel like the faster pace and tone of the offspring version speaks more to the beginning stages of grief that fealing of anger and unfairness you feel towards life and the world mixed with the pain. But the 5FDP version feels to me like the later stages the anger you felt towards the world and your loved one for leaving you is gone leaving you with sadness and the struggle to honor their memory by not giving up but maybe thats just me. As far as im concerned both artist deserve respect both versions have made people feel like they arn't alone in there pain and both artists wether in their own words or their voice with the words of another have helped someone through a tough time and i feel like thats probably the most important thing to both artists so with much respect for both versions and their artists i would like to wish piece and healing to all those who have lost loved ones and respect to those lost who made us who we are and continue to shape us long after they are gone may their memory always be a positive force in our lives.And to my mom Nadene Cook i miss you more than words can express and though you may be gone from this world you live eternally in the hearts of those who love you

I just lost my little sister. She only had 3 months to deal with Pancreatic Cancer. She was a Force of Nature, one you didn't want to mess with. She fought til the end. And she looked up to me.....what am I going to do without her? She leaves behind a bewildered husband and 6 devastated children. She loved FFDP so this song is so special now.

8 months ago, I hope it's easier now she watches over you but I know deep down how you feel. I am the one of six, I feel a strong pain I cannot replace, this makes it strong to know she has an incredible sibling who cares. The force of nature is nothing without the roots around her. Sorry for your loss bless you all

As if my heart wasn't broken enough, I just lost my son at the age of 30. My only child. The only Solace I have is knowing they are together. My cheering squad in Heaven. I am so lost.
