Nick Bartlett Let The Ocean Take Me is an awesome album. Probably listened to Pittsburgh a hundred times when it came out. From Ashes To New - Day One is incredible! I have a 2,000 watt stereo in my car with 2 12’s and that album has incredible bass lines. Had it on repeat for months in my car. I was upset when I found out the lead singer quit. New singer isn’t bad, but it’s not the same.

Aspiring fantasy writer here, this song inspired me to add to the back story of a character from my novel. He is a fallen angel that fell from grace in the war between Angels, devils, and demons. Heaven was in a loose aliance with the devils against the demons. He followed his mentor into battle without knowing his teacher made a deal with a lord of hell. They learned how to use hellfire but lost their grace in exchange. He committed countless atrocites in the service of this devil. He bolted the first chance he got. But he is haunted by his actions, angry at his mentors betrayal, and resolves to fight against what he perceived as evil from then on. He knows it wont undo what he did, but its a start in the right direction. He joins the other protagonists foghting the big bad guy but really struggles in the group. His trauma make it hard for him to develop relationships beyond surface level and hes so afraid to let anyone close to him. But at the same time, he's suffocating alone in the dark. He has night terrors, at one point he starts a fire in his sleep with magic. And the trainee goddess of creation is trying her best to help him anyway she can. He doesnt want her getting too close, for fear of hurting her. But she is persistent. He begins to open up but hes terrified of getting attached and losing someone again. Hes my war veteran. My anti hero. He had his future taken from him by fate. Now his destiny is so much more. But it will take everything he has to get there.
