A multi-actor reading of Five go to Smuggler's Top by Enid Blyton part of the Famous Five series. It was dramatised by Edward Phillips.
The school holidays promise all kinds of adventure for the Five, when they go to spend their Easter break at Smuggler's Top, a large old house on top of a hill. Julian, Dick, George, Anne, and their friend Sooty decide to investigate some very suspicious goings-on and unearth a very clever smuggling operation.
I had this tape as a child and loved this telling of the story. It is abridged with a 44 minutes running time, but maintains the tension and excitement without over-simplifying. Making it ideal for bed time or car journeys and my kids prefer these versions also. Recorded with a multi-voice cast by Rainbow books (and later released by Tempo).

This is shared from a recording of a cassette tape, so lots of old-fashioned tape noises and hiss, but still very listenable and an enjoyable telling for childhood nostalgia or for a new generation of listeners that can make pictures in the mind.
