When I was young, whenever my brother and I were splitting the last piece of food - pizza, cake, pie, whatever - whoever cut it, the other got first choice of which piece they wanted. We became really good at cutting things precisely in half.

From Texas myself. Did my traveling in the UK last year. I tried the Five Guys in Portsmouth. the burgers were good, the staff was absolutely friendly, and the ambience was top-notch. It made me feel at home.

LOVE this! That was the sweetest little, "Bless you, daddy" ever! Miss Elana has graduated from her high chair to a booster seat. Such a big girl. :) Love that Foosa joined the video. She's a beautiful cat. :) I've not been to Five Guys. I've driven past them about 3,000 times, but never stopped to order. But now I kind of want to get one of those bacon and cheese hot dogs, and some fries. As for milkshake, my favorite shake flavor is plain peanut butter (fast food chain Cook Out serves an excellent peanut butter milkshake).

Mrs H: When you have multiple children, you always let one cut the hot dog in half, but then the other gets to select which side they want first. It eliminates the Mr. H. miscalculation cut problem. Just an FYI.

I work at Five Guys in Utah, and I'll tell you, our main selling point are definitely the fries. One of the reasons why the prices are so high, is that nearly everything that can be is either, as fresh as can be or made to order (cooked when ordered). The menu is also standard to the brand, as close as possible to the same throughout the company.

I'm also in Utah, not working for Five Guys, and with the selection in this state....Five Guys ends up getting a field promotion out of fast food into whatever category is just above fast food....A dive? I just know there's not a huge selection here so the range to choose from and the prices available compared to options and availability, Five Guys isn't as bad as people always complain it is. It's no McDonalds dollar menu, but that's kind of the point. It's supposed to be better than that and it is.

Five Guys started in Arlington, VA just outside Washington, DC. They initially expanded around the DC area in the late 90s and early 2000s at the same time the 'better burger' places were becoming popular. Their expansion has absolutely exploded over the last 20 years.

I work at a Five Guys in Alabama. Everything is fresh, never frozen, no freezer in the restaurant at all. Just to let you know, there is no seasoning on the burger patties at all.

Five Guys is my favorite burgers, and DEFINITELY my favorite fries, hands down!!! Sorry your experience was less than it should have been. That hurts my heart. :/ I like sitting in the restaurant and eating all the roasted peanuts while waiting on my order, as well.

Yeah, the beef sourced in TX at least has a good flavor to it and they don't squeeze the grease out of them so they drip and have tons of flavor. Plus, you really shouldn't just throw everything on there. Best to customize.

I suggest you make a Patty Melt. It is Texas Toast or Rye Bread, my preference, buttered, your cheese burger, grilled onions, mushrooms, 1000 Island dressing (traditional), or a spicy brown mustard. Build the sandwich, just use a griddle or grill pan and grill on both sides. Enjoy!

In case you didn’t know, five guys makes their own french fries from scratch, and the town where I grew up when they built a five guys there they had 50 pound bags of potatoes stacked up along the walls, and they take a bag and open it up and make french fries whenever they need them

I freaking LOVE FIVE GUYS food! I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered there. I get a standard burger deluxe (lettuce, tomatoes, onions & pickles W/double the toppings. W/mayo, mustard & A-1. & of course the Cajun FF! Try A-1 on the burgers W/mayo & mustard. I love how wifey call Mr H out about his LOVE of hot dogs is obscene 😂😂 Alaina is abso-freaking-lutely adorable!

I go to Five Guys in NYC about once every 2 weeks. It's satisfying and substantial (and costs it) ... but the burgers "hum" and do not "sing". In the price range, the alternative is Shake Shack.

A tip from a Dad with two boys ....splitting something without a fight? The oldest cuts and the youngest picks. Down to a micron, I tell ya!! Three-way split? Oldest starts the knife across until someone says stop and they get that piece...then split two ways again. (None of them will want to let another call for a larger first piece...)

I love Five Guys. Very expensive though so I rarely go there, but when I do it's always a burger with mushrooms and extra A-1 sauce and a tiny fry, which is enough fried to feed a wedding. Their hotdogs are really good. In the restaurant they have bottles of malt vinegar to sprinkle on them. Yumm!

When I had different work hours I once ordered some Five Guys online to pick up on the way to work so I could eat before I started that day. When I walked in there was no one in the front. I wasn't sure what to do, but I waited around. Soon they came out from the back, and they were all apologetic because the clock had stopped out back while they were prepping and they didn't realize anyone was there. They fixed up my food for me and the manager wrote on the receipt that I could use it as a coupon for a free meal. I used it the next day so I wouldn't lose it. I didn't order ahead because off the coupon but when I walked in the manager was out front and recognized me. There was no problem with redeeming my free food. He was still apologizing for the previous day. Normally I wouldn't have had food from there two days in a row, more of a once a month or so thing, but with the coupon I figured why not. I LOVE their bacon cheeseburgers with only mayo on them.

Peanut oil on the fries. Makes them taste the way they do. Before Covid 5 Guys burger were bigger and heftier then they are now. They put seasoning on them. They were bigger 2 patties weighed over a pound before cooking. And the triple cheeseburger with those fries were really good.

Yes, their burgers are MASSIVE! I've never been able to finish a regular cheeseburger there. I always do their "little" cheeseburger. I love the way they split their hot dogs to grill; makes them more flavorful. They make grilled cheese there too. :) EDIT: Also, they treat their milkshakes the same way they do their burgers - you can add in as many toppings as you want.

My family seems to prefer In-N-Out as far as burger, fries, and shakes made to order. Admittedly 5 guys have more complexity options on toppings or flavors. The off menu stuff is really good at in-n-out. Shake Shack is another comparable chain with perhaps the best desserts of the 3.

The ground beef in the UK may be different from the States. We lots of local grow beef in the Mountain Time Zone. Compare to the beef from other burger places.

I've taken to grinding my own burger meat. You can really control the quality. This makes a mighty fine burger: - 8 oz. boneless beef short ribs (or chuck roast, if you can't find short ribs with some fat on) - 8 oz. flap meat (sirloin steak tips) - 1 lb. beef skirt Medium grind. Form into 5 ounce patties and freeze what you don't want to cook within a couple of days. If you have a KitchenAid Mixer, you can buy a stainless steel meat grinder & sausage stuffer attachment for it for about $100 (over here anyway).

5 Guys is a treat for our family. When I say family, I mean most of the fries go to the dogs (and a couple of the cats!), I can only eat about 2/3 of the burger. 😂 So I save it or share it. A little pricey, yes, but an awful lot of food.
