Johnny Depp unveils ‘Five’, an intimate self-portrait to be sold as a time-limited edition on sale for 13 days only, the edition is available to buy from Castle Fine Art, the UK’s leading art retailer. ​
This image captures the emotional exhaustion Johnny was feeling when he completed it in 2021, as he was about to enter the fifth year of a very difficult period of his life. He added the “five” tally-mark in recognition of this moment in time. The original reference for the art is a still from a shoot for Dior’s ‘Sauvage’, directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino. Johnny chose this particular image in honour of Dior and the loyalty they’ve always shown him. ​

Hearing him talk about that period of his life is so sad. I can’t imagine the emotional pain he was going through. His abuser and her shit eating freeloaders ruined his life for nothing. I’m glad he’s had an outlet to express himself in his art and music. Even if you’re not a fan of Johnny what happened to him is a travesty as a human being. ❤ Johnny donated to our public childrens' hospital here in Perth. My 10 year old son had a bunch of assessments by specialists at the Complex ADHD clinic at the hospital and I didnt need to pay. It's difficult to put emotion even when one sees it. Difficult to bring that emotion from hands through the brush. He does it flawlessly. A true artist to be able to interpret emotion into a painting whatever the nay sayers complaint there are of his paintings. One could stencil a painting and not bring the same as he does in all his paintings, so that's how you know he is talented.

I am about as polar opposite in my lifestyle as can be but I am still drawn to Johnny Depp. Not because he is an incredible actor and artist-he is, but he is a broken man, flawed and vulnerable -he is human and makes no excuses or false pretenses. I have a great deal of empathy for him, and respect. I pray this man is able to move on with his life. He has had a lot to deal with in the last few years and he would be the first to admit much is from his own decisions. He is real and honest and in a world of people who put on airs I truly appreciate and respect a REAL person.

I love this painting. The eyes are, so expressive and grab you right away. You can feel Johnny Depp’s pain through the eyes. The red around the eyes, nose, and mouth is a direct indication of his pain and sorrow. If you close your eyes you can imagine a loud scream of release. The direction he’s looking lets you delve deeper into Johnny Depp’s mindset. I also see fear. Pain is almost always followed by fear. Fear of the unknown and fear of the known. Questioning himself is present in this painting. It’s tangible with the colors and brush strokes. I realize that this isn’t a traditional painting, so the phrase “brush strokes” is being used in a loosely. Meaning if you look closely you can see the lines in the ink used and how it was used. The lines give you insight into Johnny Depp’s description of this painting. His description finalizes the entire piece. It pulls you in and makes you look deep into yourself. Then the viewer can’t help, but ask themselves, “What would I have done?” Well I’ve rambled on long enough, but I know this particular painting is going be one of the most popular pieces in Johnny Depp’s collection.

I do drawings/paintings like he said...not exactly life realism lol...but we know this portrait already. And his eyes n expression in this painting tell the whole story...strangely enough, I had such troubles with my ex too...since 2016. Only can imagine how painful tht was for him, emotionally etc..only ppl, who go through such dark narcissist exes...know tht feelings! Brought a tear to my eye listening to Johnny describe the creative process, born out of such a dark time, which led to this amazing self-portrait. The depth of feeling emanating from his eyes in the painting - the sorrow, the hurt, the anguish. It seems a very honest piece of work, showing some vulnerability, I think. We're privileged that he's sharing the painting with us - it's deeply personal. Thank you Johnny- you're an incredibly talented artist (as well as musician, rockstar, poet, filmstar + a whole lot more!) You went thro a dark, negative time, but dealt with it with dignity & humility & grace. Fantastic that money from sale of prints is going to mental health charity- so kind & selfless. ❤❤

When I saw it and interpret what he says and thinks. 🤔❤️ it's so incredible. It is painful, as he period of madness, as he says. leaves a thought, so that you can read it in the eyes.
