Thank you, Mr. Leggett! Your work in preserving this vital history is so appreciated and necessary. I recently visited Highland Beach and didn't realize it was so close to Carr's Beach. Our state and our country is better because of your efforts and those like you who realize that Black History is American History.

My family from Baltimore and DC used to meet at Carrs Beach on some Sundays after church. Wonderful food, great fun and outstanding entertainment. In the 1960"s there were end of the school year ,all night, parties for the Baltimore teachers.

Oh I remember Carr's Beach fondly. Our family had summer cabins north of Carr's near Back Creek. There used to be bar called the Dew Drop in which I believe was in an old log cabin. My dad and uncle used to go there to drink even though they were white. Great story!

I worked for a prominent black family in baltimore and heard about all of the beaches that he named. I wish I had an appreciation for the connection to the rich history that was around me

My parents took me and my siblings to the beach when I was five years old in 1959, It was very hot and super crowded! The restrooms were terrifying for a little kid! I did not know at that time that a person of color could not attend the other beaches,,,,

Did I see a "No Swimming" sign? So it is still a beach but swimming is no longer allowed?

What happened to Frederick Carr? The founder of Carr’s Beach? It seems a guy named Hoppy took over, and was of no relation to the Carr’s.
