Yesterday (August 1st ) was the feast day of St. Alphonsus Ligori. Great timing for this video 😊

Cemeteries are very interesting places to visit, although it may seem rather dark. There is so much history and one can almost always find some famous person interred there, at least a locally famous person.

I worked in the cemetery business. I found FABULOUS stories that were untold in the files. Cemetery history is some of the most interesting history in Baltimore.

Johns, Thank you so much for this video! Many ancestors are buried there beginning with my 2nd great-grandfather in Section K. I have been there and visited the graves in my search for family history. They attended St. Michael the Archangel church on Lombard and Wolf Streets which you mentioned. Have you done a history on the church? I may have missed it if you did. Thanks again, M. Kraus

Thanks for sharing your family history! We did a video on St. Michael the Archangel and how it is now the Ministry of Brewing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHKql2SvnNqhpJo

The ashes of my parents and paternal aunt and uncle are in the columbarium. And both sets of grandparents are also buried there along with other family members. Thanks for this video, Mr. H.

Thanks for another informative video about Baltimore! A suggestion: if you haven't already done this, perhaps you could make a future video about the beautiful little Gothic Revival chapel in the Greenmount Cemetery (along with some of its other notable architectural features and occupants).

Thanks Michael! We have that one on our list! It's another beautiful cemetery building.

@@baltimoreheritage1006 Thanks! When I was there back in about 2018, unfortunately, it was in pretty bad shape and had to be "stabilized" to keep it from completely falling down. 😞

I would love to see the history of the old Holy Cross cemetery on Harford Rd. Remains were reinterred in 1969 to Woodlawn Cemetery. They have the reinterment records but will not share. Many relatives were buried there, some known and some unknown

You may not want to do another cemetery after doing this video, but if you are interested, New Cathedral Cemetery in West. Baltimore might be a good choice. It was mainly for Baltimore Catholics, including four Baseball Hall of Famers that are buried there. Many historians believe it has the most HOFers of any cemetery in the U.S.

New Cathedral is a beautiful cemetery. I commented about Most Holy Redeemer having been the burial ground for my paternal family members. New Cathedral holds many of my maternal family members. It’s an amazing place with a reburial section and some truly unique monuments. I love that NCC was named Bonnie Brea, as there are breathtaking views of the city of Baltimore. John’s, this would be another vote for doing a history on New Cathedral.

People these days don't know this for being a cemetery full of famous people. They know it as a scene from "The Wire."
