I own a small flat just three blocks away on Saint Paul Street. I love my neighborhood so much. Thanks for reminding me!

I worked in the early 1980s in a now closed local pharmacy with a soda fountain and a sidewalk street service window called Morgan's Drugstore. It was in the quaint little town of Gloucester, Virginia. Wonderful business where kids could get ice cream and balloons on a stick. Yes, I'm old.

How wonderful this store will still be a Neighborhood Treasure for times to come. Another wonderful nugget of history, Baltimore Heritage! Well Done!

Great story Johns! Can’t wait to share with Nadia! We are in Mt. Vernon alllll of the time! The last time I was in an old time pharmacy was when I was a student at BSA (many moons ago). The property at Madison & Park on the right side …. was a pharmacy and they served the best chicken salad sandwiches. It was like going back in time. I think it is now a residential property.

I bet there are quite a few "other" spirits in that historic building as well! 👻

Hyman Davidov might have been the original owner of Davidov's Pharmacy on Edmondson Ave. next to the Westway Movie Theater. I worked there part time as a soda jerk in the 1960's when I was in High School. The owner then was I. M. Ruddie. Coincidently, I often visited MacGillivray's when I went to school downtown. At that time there was a soda fountain in the rear of the store.

Seriously, a wine shop revitalized a neighborhood? A local grocery or bakery, yeah that I could believe. In Newark, NJ you find either two bars and a church or two churches and a bar on every block. It's done nothing to revitalize Newark's neighborhoods.
