There have been books written on this subject, you can search and read them. And for a live demonstration, you can go to Tamil Nadu/Andhra/Kerala and eat food prepared on religious ceremonies of Hindus/Brahmins. Esp. in Tamil Brahmins during shraddha/ceremony for commemorating ancestors the food is almost what used to be eaten 2000 years ago eg. thevaram samayal and pavakkai pitlai. And that food is just soul satisfying.
