It wasn't Elvis' fault that his version of HD outsold Mama T's version. It wasn't her song! Two white guys wrote it and even tho her version was great, the public preferred Elvis's version. Not his fault. He stole nothing from her.

Funny how all of these artists decry commercialism while pulling in the big $$. How many offer up concerts and music downloads for free? Not many and those with tall opinions do/did so in the safety of their secured mansions and high end townhomes.

Elvis gave up publishing in 1969. So is Dolly telling the truth…

It's always going to be easier for me to take the word of John Lennon, Dolly Parton and Big Mama than it will be to take the word of Johnny Rotten or Winton Marsalis. Winton, I can't trust. He might make a fine point about Elvis' exploitation acts, but I have been told that Winton is kind of ego-driven. My reaction to Johnny Rotten is motivated not as much by his history as a punk rocker but by the fact that he seems to have sold out to everything John Lennon disliked about Elvis. Though he isn't a US citizen, he has gone out in public for Donald Trump. He thinks he's being the epitome of punk by doing so, but Trump has become the epitome of everything Punk was supposed to fly in the face of.

Elvis had his racist place in a far more racist time than today, thankfully time moves on and death is always the scene changer regardless of how slow coming it is.
