I definitely feel your pain in regards to the 1886 Épée… I’d like to see the opposite of this video sometime, Best Bayonets of the 20th Century

The Lebel , I have one, was bad to break as you said….but that was one scary looking item coming over the top of your fighting hole. Made a nasty wound that was hard to heal too.

It's actually my favourite bayonet, I was very reluctant to include it in the video

I have an 1886 Epee and it's an iconic bayonet. 💪

I’ve never had a lebel bayonet but I do have a gras bayonet that I think highly of. Would you consider that being a low ranked one too?

The gras M1874 epée bayonet was primarily used in the 19th century, and for its time I would say it ticked a lot of boxes. It was lighter than the chassepot, it was interchangeable between rifles which was a huge step forward. Length was no issue at the time and it made a much better sidearm than a socket.

Interesting fact may be that the Soviets where in a trasition from Mosin Rifles to SVT Rifles because they knew the Mosin was obsolete. The SVT had in fact a Knife Bayonet but as the Germans attacked they needed more Guns and the Mosin was easier to Build as the SVT. Technicaly did they have "some" Knife bayonets as early as 1938.

I think you made a slight error talking about the development of Russian bayonets towards the end of the video at 8:48, Russian made SKSs did have a under folding knife bayonet (to my knowledge), you’re probably thinking of the Chinese variant type 56 which did have an under folding spike cruciform bayonet and is far more common than Russian in both numbers and availability to modern day collectors/hunters (depending on geographical location)

Thanks I had no idea, I'm not much of an SKS guy. Every example I have seen must have been Chinese 😅

Did the Geneva Convention ban cruciform or spike bayonets?

No, that is a myth that has been floating around for years

How does that Spanish bolo compare to the Cetme Model C bayonet? I’ve heard that the Model C makes a decent tool.
@pointynotsharp2 жыл бұрын
Not too sure honestly. I'm still sourcing a CETME C

@@pointynotsharp Not sure if they ship overseas but Numrich Gun Parts has them for $30 usd. They also have the Model L which at $40 usd is tempting me at the moment

The no4 and the mosin bayonets are classic sockets they are killing tools nothing more.they were never intended for anything else.the no7 is fine if it's assembled properly,but it is way too complicated for standard issue.the lebel is too fragile,the bolo is about the best of this group.

I want an épée bayonet just so I pretend it’s a smallsword.

Include values!!We need to know

Sorry, I don't do values. There are far too many variables, country you are in, condition etc
