My thanks to the fmartinjr for posting this well-filmed video. It would appear that in this particular neighborhood, a simple trashcan fire will bring out all the homeowners and tenets within a 10 sq. block area, as well as every Fire and Rescue apparatus located anywhere within the entire county. It looked kinda like a local Volunteer Fire Department sponsored 4th of July Bar-B-Cue, Fish Fry and Bake Sale community get together. The FD even used the opportunity to practice raising their Tiller-Ladder Truck's aerial ladder to the roof of a 1 1/2 story residential structure. A ventilation crew of 4 men then ascended the ladder to the saddle of the roof with not one, but two saws ready to do harm if called upon. (Thankfully no such order was given) However, there was not even a wisp of smoke emitting from anywhere around the eaves of the house nor any other sign that there was a need for venting the roof. (Talking about putting on a show for the spectators) It was also quite interesting to see the way the firefighters placed two ground ladders and a roof ladder on the extreme outside edge of the steep sloping roof. That's a fire training session that I missed and a ladder placement technique that thankfully I was never taught. The kicker was the videographer visually capturing the tired faces of worn-out and weary firefighters slowly returning to their fire apparatus after the training sessions completion.

No need for putting a hole in the roof! There was no high heat or smoke condition. You can see the end vents with ladders going up to them. Since you were doing that though the pitch requires a roof ladder to work off of for safety. Also with the K-12 he's cutting through or severely weakening the rafters creating a hazard for any future roof work, but that's me being nit- picky.

why are these firefighters so gentle and considerate of the property owner? Aren't they supposed to rip out the screens, brake down every door, and smash every single window and pull out the window frames causing extra thousands of dollars in damage?
@ronbaer51855 жыл бұрын
They weren’t that considerate. They Fire was out when they vented the roof from the unnecessary Ariel. The Fire was out when they cut the whole in the roof! It had already vented nicely from both ends of the attic.
