I purchased and read your book, - nice work - simple, straight to the key points, very informative - highly recommended. I have been in talks with a non-fiduciary 'financial planner' regarding an IUL policy - which he claims is a great tax shelter + Investment. Thoughts on the tax shelter argument?
@LIFE180 Жыл бұрын
My thoughts are that an IUL comes with more risk than most agents will acknowledge and that while there are tax benefits, life insurance should never be seen as an investment. Define what he meant by "tax shelter"

What about the living benefits what’s the difference?
@LIFE180 Жыл бұрын
Both IUL and WL have great living benefits. But the living benefits are only good if the policy is there...

In my meeting with Equitible, I was told that even if the IUL did not perform (0%) return for years the payout would be comparable to Whole Life. Even dividends are not guaranteed for Whole Life. AlSO, agents profit more from Whole Life insurance which is why premiums are generally higher

These are all lies....I am not sure who told you that, but it is flat out wrong. IUL carriers pay more commission on IUL than whole life. I have done many videos on this. Check out both my Indexed Universal Life and Whole Life playlists.

Chris, I have a question. My friend just got an IUL and she states that they provided docs which stated that they have performed well in the last 20 years. She said for two years up 12% then third year down 0% then keeps same cycle. She states higher ROR outweighs 0% days. So is it possible that it is performing well? I’ve asked another agent to see a policy written 6 years ago and I have yet to see one

This is the marketing side of how they are sold, but this is not how they actually work...hence my problem with them - the smoke and mirror sales tactics and lack of transparency. They have not performed well for the past 20 years....if they had, someone would have taken me up on my offer to give them $2,000 to show me one that has performed well...look up #IULchallenge

can you plz also talk about Five Reasons To Buy IUL Instead of Whole Life ?
@LIFE180 Жыл бұрын
There are not 5 reasons.... IUL is the most misrepresented product in the financial industry

So I have a question.....say you do a 10 pay or a paid up at 65 can you still add PUA/UPUA beyond that point? Are there still charges on the PUA if the charges have stopped? I follow you on the risk transfer..years ago company wanted us to sell VUL becaues it transfered the performace risk to the client and freed the company up from haveing to keep the resevers.....when I leanred that things changed for me...and back then they were running the illistrations at 12% or so....crazy As far as the IUL and even the WL rider where you get to do an index selection.....vs the Guar. return......if the S&P performs and the option really grows why do they CAP it? The only answer I see is they pocket the rest of the upside....the option is already paid for with the Guar return.....the only thing I can think of is they CAP the return becaseue they are taking the other side of the trade and they would loose if they gave return above that level...just a thought....the CAP would be their hedge to the clients long gamble.

A couple things in response.... The insurance company needs to cap or create some limitation or protection to themselves (even in uncapped indexes) because the money is not really in the index, it is purchasing call options. So the insurance company needs to implement caps, par rates, or other spread charges or fees simply to minimize their exposure. That's it. They are not profiting on it any more. It's a function of their options budget (created by the general fund performance), and options costs. Those are the only 2 variables that really matter in IUL. Actual index performance has little to do with long term results. PERIOD. Make sense?
@LIFE180 Жыл бұрын
Also, on the PUA riders AFTER the 10 pay. Certain companies WILL allow it. Certain companies won't allow you to continue paying PUA's after the end of the 10 pay duration.

@@LIFE180 OK after thinking about this for a minute it seems to me if they're not making a profit on the upside and they are limited the downside to the premium paid then what they're doing is it called spread they buying at the money call for whatever date you are initiating and then they sell the higher call that would make the premium lineup with what the general fund is paid and that will determine your cap because at upper short side would vary depending on option pricing and interest rates and you will be capped at that point from learning anything additional that's the only thing that makes any sense to me on why there's a cap what something that has an unlimited upside potential so that doesn't limit the risk although an unlimited upside potential call that the money would be much more expensive and what the general fund is pay the spread could offset that
