Wait, I think I actually know this one! I believe that there's a bicycle seat like thing that she sits on in a way that it looks like she's still standing. Then the seat goes up on the tracks and voila! She's floating! Sorry this comment is a few months late, and you might have learned it by now, but I think that's what happened. Read it somewhere

@@alethabreiner1239 That's what it looked like to me. The bottom railing of the stairs is the track, and Adam knocks the seat off the tracks and into the mop bucket so that it goes unnoticed.

The seat is actually put onto the railing by one of the Beetlejuice clones after they are summoned to carry him to the door to the Netherworld. If you look closely, you see a clone run up to the base of the railing, attach it, and hump the railing (I’m guessing that’s just to mask it) before running off :)

I believe it's a bicycle-like seat attached to an arm that swings out hidden in the wall. A cast member passes it and as they do they swing it out and Sophia sits on it; the seat is hidden under the dress. A hydraulic then lifts the mechanical arm and Sophia into the air.
