Poly Bridge 3 Part 34 - the Poly Bridge 3 secret world continues! The first couple levels weren't so bad, but this level shows me the true force of 5 sheep difficulty. Will I still manage to get half budget?

Tyler, you need to think about leverage. Mentally simplify structures to their interfacing nodes, and think about how these nodes experience stress. For that, look at the position and direction of the force, and apply simple leverage logic to the structure. Example: When the truck hits the valley (3rd section), it pushes down through inertia. Depending on the position of the force vector to the foundation node, the section rotates left or right. Either way, the ramp (2nd section) gets pulled to the bottom/right, away from the top part (1st section). That in turn tries to rotate clockwise. Simplified to a triangle, the top was getting pulled, the left was kinda somewhat pulled but mostly through gravity, and the bottom was getting pushed against the cliff. Early on in that section, roads were snapping because the top side was only linked up by roads that had to take the strain. Also try to think about which paths the forces take, and support these in as straight of a line as possible.

@@jr_kulik Yeah. You'd think RCE would apply at least basic FEM logic to his structures. Statics are so basic, if you are an engineer of basically any subject where solid objects are present, you had lessons on it.
@TheFunfighter
@TheFunfighter Жыл бұрын
@@QuantumConundrum That too. What I'm mostly trying to get at, that he's not diagnosing his problem logically, but just throws more material at it until the color looks nicer. The whole time, the problem was that he placed roads under tension, which is really easy to fix. I also see him and RCE slap muscles on things, because it's a magic thing that works as a strong support. It's not magic, it's just two supports side by side. The ideal "muscle" is symmetric and has as short of a middle link as possible, to orient the twin supports as parallel to the axis of compression/tension as possible.

It's a team of 3, and the description always says who worked on that video. Today's installment was brought to you by Dan White and Ben Ranger. Ben has been with the channel for several years now, and Dan came on somewhere between 6 and 12 months ago. Now there's also Frazzz, who didn't work on this video but has appeared in Peglin and Paquerette Down the Bunburrows edits (pretty sure I messed up the name... it's bunny game, you'll find it in the channel's recent videos if you don't know what I'm talking about). The editors are highly praised around here, and it has definitely been noticed by Tyler, who mentioned the amount of praise the editing team gets in his recruitment video yesterday (or the day before?) for a 4th editor while one of them works on a temporary side project (I'm guessing Frazzz, since they haven't been on a video in several days). Long story short, they know we love them, but it never hurts to keep reminding them of that

Slopes and curves on a bridge make for interesting dynamics, but it's so frustrating to build, shave and then realize that is needs a full redesign. It'll be cool if someone modded in a grading material. An unbreakable beam that can't be used to finish the bridge and instead of green/yellow/red, you get a bit more of a detailed view of the forces at play. I know it's easier said than done but it's nice to imagine.

It is a work of art. I put everything on the outside of the box and mirrored and flipped them... kind of like that FR-03 you looked at in the gallery (don't know how he did it with 2 tiny hydraulics). I could likely trim a bit, but I would have to redo all the geometry to get it to lock again. I gave up at this. It gave me top 15% and number 206 so I'm happy.
