I never had any issues with my skin, it was very healthy and beautiful. I had some minor dark spots from the summer so I tried a microdermabrasion session (just one) and now four months later I'm still struggling with what seems to be rosacea. I never had issues with it before and am shocked one treatment that was marked as safe for all skin types has basically given me rosacea.

chemical exfoliation. Once a week. But I believe good digestion, healthy gut, stress and anxiety management, enough sleep, and ensure all daily nutrition are met, will do wonder like 70%, 30% are topical skincare.

Definitely enjoyed this video. I’ve been pretty much doing this, for about 15-20 years... with a few brief bouts of “experimenting” here and there. (Not always a good thing... but I occasionally get sucked into the “new” and “better” or “best” skincare product recommendations, by family, friends, KZbinrs and even some of my dermatologists.) Since having first been diagnosed with mild to moderate rosacea, 20 years ago... I’ve religiously have done a few things that have helped me. - I read product labels. Anything irritating, like SD or denatured alcohol, fragrance or fragrant essential oils... and I won’t bother with it. - I use a 1/2 sheet of a paper towel, to pat my skin dry and then use it to apply a lightweight moisturizing toner. Reusing a cotton face towel or flannel, caused too much irritation and breakouts. Using a fresh one, every time... also was an issue. I figured i may just be allergic (on my face!) to even the gentlest of laundry detergent?! *shrugs* - I’ve also been using SPF religiously. I use a lightweight moisturizer with SPF30 and a tinted moisturizer with SPF30 . Both contain zinc and or titanium dioxide. (The tinted moisturizer acts as my foundation that’s topped off with a light layer of powder foundation, to conceal some of the redness.) I occasionally dab a bit of NARS Radiant concealer and blend down with a BB... on some areas with more pronounced redness (over the tinted moisturizer, but before the powder.)

I am one of those who have rosacea, am highly sensitive AND have oily skin. I'm also in my 40s and have yet to find an anti-aging product that doesn't cause my skin to react in some way. I also can't really find much information about rosacea for people with oily skin, in general. If you could do a video about either of those topics (rosacea on oily skin or rosacea and anti-aging) that'd be amazing!

I have found coconut oil (organic, virgin, cold pressed, and unrefined) works wonders for my oily skin. It calms the rosacea, is great for anti-aging, and is my go-to for eczema relief. Give it a try ☺

rosehip seed oil is a great anti aging oil, with a low comedogenic rating. A lot of people with a dryer skin type tend to use it, but in my case it's actually lowered my face's natural oil production, and normalized my skin a lot. It's also soothed down my rosacea quite a bit. Now in the wintertime I need a slightly thicker oil though, so I use (food grade) avocado oil mixed with a little bit of tea tree essential oil as a night time moisturizer. These two things, combined with a gentle daily cleanser, are the only things that I do in my daily skincare routine. And my skin has never been calmer :) (skin type: combination (used to be very oily), very sensitive with (now) mild rosacea)

Tina Marie (Tina Gaspard) I've changed my skin care routine recently. Once a week, I do a mask. I usually use an exfoliating or pore-purging mask. I use the cetaphyl gentle cleanser (b/c it's soap free and oil free, and very gentle) first, then apply the mask. Sometimes I'll do the cleansing mask and then do a soothing/moisturizing mask immediately after, depending on my skin. I then follow up with the Paula's Choice BHA treatment, followed by the coconut oil, followed by the vaseline-based cream overtop. The other 6 nights a week, I do a daily, gentle scrub (I can't afford the clarisonic so I use the olay regenerist dupe and their daily, micro-sculpting scrub. I go over each part of my face only once, so that I don't over-scrub). Then I apply some coconut oil and hop in the shower (I shower every night b/c I wash my hair at night). Applying coconut oil before a shower really helps to soothe my skin after the scrub, as the coconut oil isn't washed off by water. I wash my face with my eczema soap right before getting out of the shower. Then I follow up with Retin-A, coconut oil, and the vaseline-based cream overtop. In the morning, I just use my eczema soap and a light daytime moisturizer. I have noticed a HUGE difference in my skin since starting this regimen. My skin has never been so soft or smooth. I've always suffered from milia but this regimen seems to be keeping new milia from developing. I wish someone had taught me proper skincare 15 years ago :(

+Dr Sam Bunting, One question: As professional, What do you think about korean skin care products? Do you recommend them? Thank you!
@AudreyNataliaKosmar7 жыл бұрын
I personally think they are too elaborate for us rosacea-sufferers. And their double cleansing and double toning will definitely aggravate our sensitive skin. They also tend to over moisturise the skin. I feel like French skincare philosophy is the best for us with sensitive skin, we need a very simple and gentle skincare; not a 10-step skincare with potentially irrritating products.
@Roseycheeks867 жыл бұрын
Audrey Natalia what products are you using?
@barefacedquestions7 жыл бұрын
You don't have to use double cleanse if it's not for you, and you don't have to follow a 10-step routine. I think there are Korean products for every skin type, you just need to look harder.
@Roseycheeks867 жыл бұрын
Have you tried embryolisse and what do you think of it? I agree, french pharmacy brands work best for me.
@1224thetami7 жыл бұрын
Untill 2 weeks ago I used to use only Korean skincare products. My skin is dry, but if I overly moisturize it turns oily in the T zone, so I've never followed the 10 step K-Skincare. 2 weeks ago I started with heavy symptoms of rosacea, it's getting worse day by day, my skin does not tolarate anything I used to use, and I even bought new skin care products (Korean too) and nope, it's just not for my overly irritated rosacea skin. It reached a point where I can only wash my face with my Innisfree Blueberry foam cleanser and then rub some aloe vera over it5, then I spend the whole day spraying Avene mist over my face. These are the only things that seem to calm the itchiness and burning/stinging. I have an appointment with a dermatologist the day after tomorrow, I hope whatwver treatment she gives me will help. So yeah, that's my expirience with Korean skincare products and my extremely irritated sensitive rosacea bumpy skin. I'm 27 btw.

I have Rosacea but do not flush easily - it's just a persistent pick color. I gave up on prescription products, but the Paula's Choice skincare products and advice have done wonders - my skin is now a light pink instead of a dark pink. The dry patches you mention are a real problem. The microexfoliation makes it difficult to blend foundation/concealer over.

Thank you for the video Dr Bunting! One question: if we need to cleanse gently, how can we still make sure we are removing sunscreen and makeup effectively? When I use a gentle cleanser like CeraVe, it doesn't remove everything. I can't tolerate oil cleansing very well.
@AudreyNataliaKosmar7 жыл бұрын
Yes I also use micellar water all the time. My face can't tolerate any tap water so any other cleanser that needs tap water just won't do. I heard Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser is a good one too because it's a no-rinse formula and take off makeup well.

Gina Wassyng try the double cleanse method that's very popular in Asian routines. First use an oil to remove makeup & sunscreen (coconut oil or grape seed oil) wipe off gently then your regular cleanser.

I have rosacea on my cheeks. I use retin-A at night, which makes it worse, but I've recently discovered that coconut oil really calms down the redness. I apply the retin-A, then I give it several minutes to dry (which leaves my skin burning). I then apply a generous amount of coconut oil (virgin, organic, cold pressed, and unrefined). I apply several layers to my cheeks and the redness immediately disappears. I then apply a vaseline based cream to lock in the moisture. Coconut oil is a fabulous moisturizer and it's great for anti-aging. I routinely get eczema on my neck and chest, and coconut oil is my go-to for relief. It works the best for moisturizing the eczema and relieving the itch. Plus, I'm not stuck using a lot of cortisone on my skin!
@AudreyNataliaKosmar7 жыл бұрын
You can also "dilute" your retin-a in your moisturizer so it's not as drying.

Also I use a hyaluronic acid serum as my skin seems more dehydrated than dry. thanks for your comments/gestures.

I do use their Pixi Vitamin C tonic but maybe I don't have a skin as sensitive as yours (even though I have Acne Rosacea and their tonics don't seem to contain alcohol). In fact my skin also tolerates mechanical exfoliation once/twice a week (although I mix my, already VERY GENTLE, exfoliant with my creamy cleanser and I have an hydrating rose petal mask immediatly afterwards). If you have veeery sensitive skin, than maybe I would think twice, I don't know. Let me know how it went! Xxx

Is it okay to be using Pixi glow tonic every other day for the pigmentation or it this a big no-no with rosacea?
@AudreyNataliaKosmar7 жыл бұрын
For sensitive skin it's always recommended to start with the gentlest AHA around, the lactic acid. Pixi Glow Tonic contains glycolic acid and it's geared more towards those with normal skin, not sensitive skin. Even with lactic acid, always do a patch test first for at least 48 hours, we can never be too sure :-)
