I too, learned a recipe called 7 layer bars, but I seldom make them because they always seem loose and messy. I end up wearing the coconut and the graham cracker crust. I’ll be using this recipe from now on!! Thanks!

These are so close to a 7 layer bar i make frequently. I put 1/4 pound of butter in a baking dish and then in the oven to melt. Then evenly sprinkle 1 1/2 cups Graham cracker crumbs over the butter. Sprinkle 1 cup of grated coconut over the crumbs, then a 12 oz bag of chocolate [or any flavor] chips over the coconut. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts of choice over the chips. Drizzle a can of sweetened condensed milk over the nuts. When you bake it (350F for 20 to 30 min) the bars all come together and taste incredible!

@@barbaragiesbrecht6004 Oh my that is so lovely and thank you so much for enjoying our recipes, you can use tenderflake I did a recipe for grandma's rhubarb custard pie and thats what was used for the crust, of course you can use GF flour, www.bonitaskitchen.com/recipe/grandmas-rhubarb-custard-pie/ also you can use a little more water while mixing the pastry. :) Bonita

How did you get the coconut so fine?

If you got a blender, kitchen aid or coffee grinder you can grind it find, but I got mine in the grocery store they had to types. You can use regular coconut as well, you can spoil this tasty bar. Enjoy and thank you for stopping by...Bonita
