Hey Rad!! I see radical acceptance as more of a way to acknowledge the things that you want to change and in some way just make peace with the fact that they exist or that they are happening and stop trying to push it away or resistance it’s existence. THEN WE ARE MORE FREE TO OVERCOME AND CHANGE THAT THING!!! It empowers us to take control of the situation!

The way I see radical acceptance of things/events outside ourselves is to stop fighting it and instead, take a step back and try to see it through different angles. Instead of being trapped in the "I don't like this" mentality, I explore the "what are the lessons behind this?" Is it showing me a pattern I need to confront? Is it showing me an belief that is keeping me limited some way and I'm not even aware of it? 🥰

As a counselor myself I think it’s about acknowledging accepting there is contrast and things out of our control and we process healing learn and move forward with wisdom and take steps in creating what we can control in our inside like positive thinking and then create a life we love from there ❤

Jack Canfield's Success Principle Book tells you to 'stomp on ANTS'. ANTS are automatic negative thoughts. We all do it. Gee, we're practically TAUGHT it in school, culturally, or from our parents - we're not good enough, we're too fat/thin/stupid/smart - whatever. I took me a long time to stomp berating myself for one thing or another. We also tend to value crazy busy productive days. I berate myself if I take a rest in the afternoon if I can't keep my eyes open, (I'm almost 70). But I must also listen to my body. If I need rest, I need rest. Maybe that little nap keeps me from getting a cold. I think part of remaining optimistic is not berating yourself.

I agree ;) Thanks for sharing the ANTS acronym. I think there is a card in Radleigh's Angel Tarot deck that is called Balance. I believe in the Buddhist teaching about moderation. We don't need to restrict ourselves excessively such as many people do regarding diets, but try to do all things in moderation which helps us to stay in balance. It's when we overdo things that can cause us to feel imbalanced or not well.

I encountered radical acceptance working with a brilliant therapist about a year ago. Then last October at the Denver Mastermind Major Arcana journey, I realized that radical acceptance is the equivalent of the Tower Card- that Divinely Induced moment intended to open my eyes so I am fully aware of what I'm creating - often with the intention to redirect me to change for the better. And at that point I have two choices - go back a step (card 15 Ego) or forward (card17 The Star ) Of course I want to align with the Star because that's where the Magic of Faith takes over!

I have been working alot with radical acceptance this year. To me, it means radically accepting that some goals may be realistic RIGHT NOW- and some may not. Some goals simply may take longer during this life, or even into a future life. I have found that by radically accepting the situations and people I cannot change, I'm able to manifest more quickly, things that do help make life better NOW, while building the steps to a better medium and long-term future- because of this radical acceptance

Hi, Radleigh! I have stopped using the word “acceptance” which implies it cannot change to “allowance” which implies a fluidity..allowing it to be as it is now to allow what it can become…just a thought💕❤️❤️❤️

Radical acceptance is designed to help with your resistance to feeling a certain way. What you resist persist. It is just one tool. I see it as a way to gain understanding from the emotions or situations that most would see as negative. Those emotions have information too. I will also say that joy is a far reaching feeling for me, being able to look at the perceived darker feeling with more ease. Uncontrollable laughter is the closest I get to joy.

Hi Radleigh, I am really liking your new format alot! Your optimistic empowerment suggestions are very helpful! I also believe that pretty much anything is changeable and can be made better. I believe those of us attuned more to positive beliefs are here on this planet to demonstrate that our positive beliefs can change things for the better. Louise Hay was an amazing example of that, as are you too Radleigh! :). I especially like your pairing of the Archangel card that can assist with the situation or challenge presented in the Angels & Aura cards. Thank you :) Namaste 🙏

OMG, you can't make this up. For Christmas my family gave me a Tarot planner. Monthly, weekly & daily tarot/Oracle readings. For this week I pulled my weekly affirmation card from Angels & Aura deck and I got #20

Radical acceptance is a principle in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). One basis of DBT is that we see two apparently irreconcilable concepts through the lens of "both/and" not "either/or". It's not that you accept and then forget, or even that you accept and agree, but that you wholly accept something as truthful in order to move forward motivated by the truth of the situation and not a distortion, and not from a place of resentment or regret. An example might be: I accept that my relationship isn't working AND I am committed to improving it.

Thank you for your 5 steps to optimistic empowerment. I agree that accepting an unhappy situation that can be changed is not empowering but if you can't change it then acceptance enables you to move on and focus on what you can change.

Hi, Radleigh! I understand the difficulty you’re having meshing these ideas, but radical acceptance doesn’t need to apply to things that you’re talking about. Radical acceptance was introduced to me when my husband left me after lying to me and cheating on me. I was so stuck on why he did this to me that I couldn’t move forward. I had to just accept that this was happening and move forward. It can also apply to things like death of a loved one, loss from a natural disaster, etc. It’s accepting that something awful has happened that you can’t change and moving to a mindset of “Ok. How do I move through this terrible thing?” Hope that helps!

Tara Brach wrote a book called Radical Acceptance, as well. It basically outlines acceptance as a way to just be and surrender. It's a deep meditation practice. The book is really zen. I love Tara Brach's KZbin channel too. Lots of golden meditation practices.
