No. Some tattooists are less skilled/take less time/use cheaper equipment/don’t use updated methods, which produces tattoos that don’t age well. The most vibrant tattoo I own is a watercolour one. I have black and grey tattoos I got after this one that are less vibrant, and I have since learned that it is the overall competency of the tattooist that has done this. For example, she used a 3 day clear breathable wrap for aftercare and not plastic wrap and took twice the time applying it. I have since gone back. Stop acting like tattoo quality is a seperate entity from the individual artists who create them people.
@thyrsson1025 жыл бұрын
@@j.b.s1513 what do you mean no, some tattoo artists produce lesser quality tattoos like we are not disagreeing here
@j.b.s15135 жыл бұрын
thyrsson102 Did you read my comment at all? My issue is the statement “some tattoos dont age well” is untrue, because whether a tattoo fades and the rate it fades is entirely to do with the tattooist and the quality of the equipment and methods they use. If every tattooist is different, there is no way to measure what kind of tattoos truly dont hold.
@bronwynthewitch5 жыл бұрын
My first tattoo is on the side of my foot. I went to a different tattoo artist for my second tattoo and he was talking shit about my foot tattoo saying that it would be completely gone within the next 5 years... well, 10 years later it is still very much there and it’s lasted better than the shit-talking artist’s tattoo too.
@j.b.s15135 жыл бұрын
Bronwyn Dixon Exactly, all tattooist are different, with different skill levels. People need to stop talking about tattoo quality like its a seperate entity from the individual tattooists who create them. Same area or not, if done by 2 different tattooists it’s not an apples for apples comparison.

where in the hell do people get the idea that stick and pokes aren't permanent, real tattoos? How the hell do they think people got tattoos before electric tattoo machines existed???
@kierad76485 жыл бұрын
I never thought mine would disappear but I did think it would fade and it's been 3 years and its still just as dark.
@myrddino5 жыл бұрын
i had four stick and pokes that just completely disappeared and all the ink fell out. it just depends of the quality you get, but i agree that when they are done well and by someone who knows what they’re doing, they are permanent
@jenniferwilliams54705 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing lol, like needles and ink in skin are still needles and ink. In skin.
@GliitteryBlood5 жыл бұрын
The lasting of s'n'p depends solely of the person's needle technique (knowing how deep/angle for proper poking) and ink quality, India ink, pen ink, etc tend to last a few years/months, proper high quality tattoo ink and some "homemade" ink usually last DECADES
@Sylrrha5 жыл бұрын
I did my own twice and they lasted like a few months. But this was in middle and high school and I had no skill lol. I eventually just got it professionally done.

I love my stick n pokes and it’s always been mind blowing to me that people act like they go away because they arnt “real” tattoos. Umm it’s a needle and ink, it’s a tattoo.
@isiso.715 жыл бұрын
I think the misconception comes from the word 'fade' itself. People expect it to fade to nothing within a a certain period of time, instead of expecting PARTS of it to fade, and overall not age well. Especially when one considers the actual 'long lasting' time frame tattoo artists are using. Your whole life is long lasting to them. Whereas 10 years in tattoo years? Not ideal. So they warn you.

I think artists should be clearer that they don't age well (will fade/blur), not that they will disappear completely.
@j.b.s15135 жыл бұрын
Imagination Lord The blurring comes from bad tattooing/heavy hands/over working/running the power too high/preferring speed and deep over more slow and shallow for longevity (they make more money the more people they can get in and out.). Tattoo artists don’t like to admit this has happened, and 80% of the industry is still prioritising fast work, so unfortunately most people’s work is semi blown out without them even realising it.

I always took the "it wont last" or "it wont be permanent" to mean that certain tattoos won't look crisp or look good or will look aged and worn out faster. I never thought it to mean that a tattoo wouldnt be permanent or that it would go away.

Great point! As an artist I think it’s more the fact that the QUALITY of the tattoo does not last. The majority of the time, the tattoo is not going to stay looking the same as the day you got it. I suppose that’s true for a lot of tattoos but those tricky places in particular suffer the most. Anyway, I can see how something gets lost in translation here during consultation and I will will certainly be more mindful in the future in this regard.

I only have one tattoo (on my rib) and I’m honestly so glad that I did a lot of research growing up beforehand to know that tattoos are definitely permanent. I figured that tattoos and their quality wouldn’t last based off of the original quality from the artist and how you take care of it from the moment you get them. My coworker has a mustache finger tattoo from high school and she’s 24. That stache is still good and on there!

I was surprised when you said some people believe some tattoos disappear completely! I personally have no tattoos but I have an idea for one later in the future; almost got one two years ago but ended up not getting it(it was free, so people immediately flocked to the shop and there was no chance of getting it by the time I got there), so even I know they are permanent. I think the problem with people saying anecdotes about tattoos disappearing is just that: they are anecdotes. Just because someone's tattoo disappeared, doesn't mean yours will. Everyone's body is different and will react to the ink differently.

I just wanted to hop in and say that as a tattooist i do warn people about certain areas being known for not healing great. We don't expect people to ever get a tattoo that they WANT to fully disappear so when we say it will fade we don't mean completely, just to the point where it doesn't look it's best. Very often we will turn people away or try to talk people out of certain areas as we don't want people walking around with sub-par work. We want everything we do to look 100% forever. Having said that if people are certain that they want these areas doing we will usually do it once they've heard all the info. If anyone reading this WANTS a tattoo to fade maybe tell your artist that first.
@Rhithehuman5 жыл бұрын
Also it's worth mentioning that we warn people away from inner lip tattoos as they usually do not fade like you mentioned! Love your videos Qcknd 💞

I have a finger tattoo (on the side of my middle finger). It’s a cancer ribbon that is half pink and half red. It’s almost 4 years old and still looks as bright as it was when I got it. The artist didn’t warn me about it fading but I already knew the history behind finger tattoos so I was expecting it too fade and I’m surprised it’s still there ! My wrist tattoo on the other hand is very faded and smudgy looking now. I have a friend who has a tattoo on the side of her foot and she’s had it touched up 3 times. It hasn’t faded as much since the last touch up so maybe third times the charm with that one !

From my experience (as a tattoo artist), I think people disregard the permanence of most tattoos. It's almost like people know they're permanent but don't quite think exactly about what that means. I was told my white Ink tattoo wouldn't last. and the artist almost refused to do it as well (but I think it's because I wanted it on my ribs and he was worried I'd tap out since it was my first one). But yeah the "it'll fade" was almost a positive thing for me, because I figured I can either get it touched up or it'll be an almost invisible reminder that I can just tattoo over if i want. I've had it for 4 yrs now and it's just as bright as when I got it. sure 4 years is not 10 years. but it's a lot longer than the 6-12months I was told

I didn't quite realize how permanent tattoos are until I got my first one. I knew they lasted for the rest of you life, but that concept didn't sink in until I actually had it on me and I saw it everyday. Had I realized how permanent it actually was, I probably would have thought out what I was going to get and planned it a bit better.

It's probably a little off topic, but I am seriously wondering about the rotation of the finger tattoo "666". As far as I know, tattoos "should" usually be rotated in that way that the bottom of the tattoo is facing towards the fingertips. Or doesn't that apply to finger tattoos? I'm not trying to be nitpicky here, I'm seriously confused, as I'm myself thinking about getting a finger tattoo of a cross. And as you might know there's a different meaning towards it, depending on its rotation.
@hippopajamas5 жыл бұрын
I think that instead of going with 'they won't last' and 'they will go away' we need to shift the was was phrase it to 'these don't last well' and 'warning, you will need to get this touched up so it looks nice' and 'these can start blurring/not looking so hot pretty fast'. I have almost never seen these tattoos go away completely- they just fade to looking like shit if they fade at all. Understanding the difference going in is important!

I had the opposite happen. My ~ high school sweetheart ~ got a tattoo for us from some dude she knew, and it was done like, prison style. She trusted him because a lot of people she knew had tattoos he did that healed and aged okay, but hers fell out almost completely before it even healed. Thank God lol. I do have a hand tattoo that's aging way better than I thought it would, but I didn't except it to be gone in a year. Part of it is missing but again, that part was done way too shallow, and fell out right away. The rest is not good but certainly don't better than they tell you a 4 year old hand tattoo will be
